The ODR Platform will soon be decommissioned
Summary: it_news_team announces that the ODR Platform will soon be decommissioned.
As is known, the European Commission has made available to consumers, for complaint handling, the Online Dispute Resolution Platform ("ODR Platform") to resolve disputes out of court.
The ODR Platform will soon be discontinued. Consequently, sellers will no longer be required to provide the link to the ODR platform.
Here you can find the details of the respective new Regulation that repeals the existing ODR Regulation.
What happens?
From 20 March 2025 it will no longer be possible to submit complaints on the ODR Platform.
By no later than 20 July 2025, all information relating to cases on the ODR Platform, including personal data, will be deleted and the ODR Platform itself will be discontinued.
I am a consumer, what do I need to do?
No action is required. You only need to know that this out-of-court dispute resolution tool will no longer be available. Regarding the use of eBay services, you can refer for complaint handling and, more generally for dispute resolution, to what is stated in the User Agreement.
I am a seller, what do I need to do?
From 20 July 2025 onwards, listings must no longer contain any information, link, or reference to the ODR Platform. Since you will no longer be required to create links and information about the ODR Platform, you should remove the relevant links and information. You can also inform your buyers that they will not be able to use the ODR Platform to submit complaints after 20 March 2025.
Please note that this list is not exhaustive and is for reference only. If in doubt, please contact your legal advisor.
Thank you for being part of the eBay community.
