New item conditions for second-hand clothing
Summary: it_news_team opened a discussion about the new conditions for second-hand clothing, but did not provide any further details or answers.
We support the benefits of selling and buying second-hand clothing and its positive impact on the environment. To help make your selling experience easier and remove any hesitation buyers may have when purchasing used clothes, we’re expanding our options for second-hand clothing item conditions.
Three new options available to you
Previously, when you listed second-hand clothing items, you could only select "Used" as the item condition. Starting February 4, 2025, you’ll instead have three options to choose from: Used - Excellent, Used - Good and Used - Acceptable. The existing condition "New with defects" will also be renamed "New with imperfections".
See the table below for a detailed description of these conditions.
|
Used - Excellent |
Like new, already worn, but with few or no signs of wear. This item has been worn before, but is in excellent condition. Any signs of wear must be shown and described in the seller's listing. |
|
Used - Good |
Slightly used, with minor signs of wear and/or visible defects. This item has been used a little and is in good condition. It may show some signs of wear, and in any case all imperfections must be shown and described in the seller's listing. |
|
Used - Acceptable |
Very visible defects, obvious signs of wear, and/or missing or damaged parts. This item has very visible imperfections and signs of wear. All imperfections must be shown and described in the seller's listing. |
To view the full list of categories that will receive these new conditions and for more information on what constitutes defects, signs of wear, and imperfections, visit our Second-hand clothing conditions page.
With these new options, you’ll be able to give your buyers a clearer understanding of your item’s condition, helping reduce the likelihood of returns due to condition-related issues.
How to improve your second-hand clothing listings
Starting February 4, you can use our new item conditions when creating or revising listings for second-hand clothing items. Here are some important details you should know:
- Once this change takes effect, all your existing "Used" clothing listings will be automatically updated to "Used - Good"
- You’ll need to review these listings to make sure the condition accurately reflects each item and, if necessary, revise your listings individually or in bulk to select the appropriate condition
- If you use a third-party provider to manage your listings, our new condition options will be available through their tools
Start preparing for this change by checking your listings to determine which new conditions best fit each item.
Once the new conditions are available, review your listings as soon as possible, as accurate item conditions are key to minimizing returns and ensuring your listings appear in the correct search category.
