The other day, since I was switching to a 5g connection, I put the 4g router I was using up for sale.
A few hours later I see that I can send an offer to a potential buyer. The price I had listed it at was the lowest on ebay for a working one with its full bundle (box, manual, lan cable and power supply). I give an extra 10% discount.
After a few hours the buyer contacts me and says something like: Hello, I received your sales offer, could you give me an additional discount?
I reply no.
Soon after he replies saying he would think about it then.
At that point I was floored by the cheek. Not only was the starting price lower than any other one here on ebay, not only had he received a 10% discount, but he was asking for an additional one.
I reply that he can consider the offer no longer valid. I close the listing (to invalidate the purchase offer) and reopen it later.
One might think, well... maybe he's a wheeler-dealer... I go look at the buyer's profile, user since 2008, and yes, definitely a long-time wheeler-dealer.
I told the guy I hoped he'd find someone willing to give it to him for free, I blocked him from being able to buy from me, and all's well that ends well; this morning the item was sold at full price.

Usually this happens when selling highly sought-after items that attract attention from a wide range of users.
In fact, you always find deal-makers when there are items sold way below market value or highly sought-after items that are great for a quick resale.
don't mind them, just look and move on 👍

·1 year agoObviously you've never sold on Vinted or Subito... around there the "ciocapiatt" (that is, reliable and serious people like a 30,000-lire banknote) are everywhere.
I think I've blocked more people on those sites than on Facebook... and I’ve said it all already....

OP1 year agoNo, actually I don't use Vinted and not even Subito, let's say that on eBay things like that rarely came up...
Looks like they show up on eBay now too!

·1 year agoEveryone is free to make the purchase offers they consider appropriate, just as the other party is free to counteroffer or reject them.
I don't see anything wrong with that.
If you sold on terms you consider satisfactory, I'm happy for you.
