Coin cleaning

Question

hi everyone, I came into possession of a 5-cent Vittorio Emanuele II coin from 1861.

I’m absolutely sure it’s real because I found it in a suitcase belonging to my great-grandmother, who has now passed away; along with it there were documents from the 40s, and 2-cent coins from 1900.

after being closed up for over 160 years, it ended up in my hands, but I don’t know how to clean it, this is its condition:

how can I clean it?

how much could it be worth even if it’s worn on the back?

The only ones of value are the rare ones, minted by the Bologna mint. Yours is a very common coin with the N, so minted in Naples. Worth a few euros, if in good condition.

The coin is made of copper, for cleaning just a few minutes of soaking in white vinegar.

Try immersing it in an ultrasonic bath. Keeping it soaked in some non-corrosive liquid to soften any residue. In general, the less you scrub it, the better it is.

Try liquid Sidol, I solved it for another type of material, but I’ll tell you.....first try it on an old coin with no value, I’m not taking responsibility for any damage, 😁 I’m not a coin expert.
