Ebay Scams Listings WARNING!!!
Hello everyone.
Last week I was the victim of a scam on the Ebay Annunci site. The shady seller was offering a 240 GB Corsair SSD hard drive for 120 euros. The listing was very detailed, with photos and specs. In short, nothing that would have made me suspicious; besides, the price was reasonable but not insanely low compared to market value. So I decided to contact the seller, who replied with the exact specs of the item and showed very high technical knowledge. Then, to protect myself, I asked to pay with Paypal and he agreed but... and that's where I got screwed... he suggested I make the payment using the GIFT option to a friend and not as a purchase, claiming that way neither of us would have to pay fees. I didn't think too much about it and made the payment. After two days he still hadn't shipped it, and when he told me that due to health problems he still couldn't ship, I realized I had been the victim of a scam. No worries, I thought: Paypal will handle it. When I went to dispute the transaction, surprise: I couldn't file a claim because the Gift to friends option wasn't covered by protection!! Do you get it, yes??
I was advised to report everything to the postal police (which I regularly did) and I also reported the scam to my bank.
However, at the moment I haven't even gotten 1 euro back.
If a moderator authorizes me, I'll put the scammer's emails and his Paypal account online.
I hope this post of mine is useful to someone else so they can avoid falling into the trap like I did.

·2 years agoThey tried to scam me on eBay too today!! He told me to leave eBay and pay via PayPal, I paid!!! Buuut something went wrong for him and he refunded me right away!! At first I had asked for his cell number. He didn't want to give it to me!!! If I had paid for the family funds option, I would have been screwed!!

·2 years agoIf you decide not to complete a purchase on eBay, let’s just say you’re asking for trouble.
It’s likely you got lucky because you didn’t agree to pay using the "friends and family" method.
