Dishonest buyer is asking for a return
Hello,
I sold a buyer a used but working PlayStation game for a total of 14 euros, shipping included.
It has some signs of wear on the disc, but that’s completely normal, but anyway the game works.
The buyer asked me for a return because he says it doesn’t work...but before shipping any item I take photos and videos of it working (usually for more expensive games), but I did it for this one too since the person buying from me had only 2 feedback.
What do you advise me to do? It’s not so much about the money, but it really bothers me that it’s not true that it doesn’t work!! Then I read that I would have to pay the shipping to have it sent back to me, and at this point either I let him keep it and that’s it, or I go through the whole process with PayPal etc. but usually they always side with the buyer, right?? Has anything like this ever happened to you??? thanks

OP1 year agoI’ve read a lot of threads, but that the seller has to get screwed no matter what, guys... doesn’t seem fair to me....
I did the rest anyway because for 14 euros I didn’t even want to bother that much; it was just a matter of not letting him win since it was working.
Few feedbacks, so he doesn’t give a damn about negative feedback, buys all low-cost items since it’s not worth having it sent back because you lose money, and in the end he keeps the item and the money and you’re out the expenses too...
it seems impossible to me that there’s no way to curb this thing, honestly.

If they make too many return requests, eBay bans them.

·1 year agoYou’re absolutely right... But the trend you’ll find here will always and only be in favor of the buyer, and they’ll tell you there’s no other solution except to take it where you said, obviously because EBAY’S rules SAY so (which now sounds like the name of an enemy), which of course you accepted...
More than anything, it’s the way the same old people always reply. I get that eBay’s rules say this, but since they’re morally wrong and lacking in many cases, you could reply okay, citing the rules, but without making them sound correct and “holy,” making you feel dead wrong...
Spoiler: they’ll reply to you/me that you are dead wrong... because.... EBAY’S RULES SAY SO! 😄 😄 😄

And what about your replies, what are they? Because I don’t see a single one...

·1 year agoMaybe because we're on the eBay forum??
Anyway, you find this issue everywhere PayPal or credit card payments are accepted, so before making "very nice" comments, get informed.
Have a good day.

·1 year agoin short: if you’ve been on Ebay for years, have you read the rules or the few hundred posts on the topic ( ... and I’m only mentioning these two sources ) ?

·1 year agoHello,
making videos and photos is useless, so it’s time you wasted some time on it.
You need to handle the return; if you don’t want to receive defects from ebay, provide a return label at your own expense and then refund... or you can refund directly and the buyer keeps the item.
Don’t beat around the bush and don’t waste time even if what the buyer claimed isn’t true.
Kind regards.
