Purchase from the United States
I’d like to buy a guitar from the USA. I asked the seller for clarification about shipping. He says that “probably” by shipping with USPS Priority Mail Express InternationalTM. ($168.25), the package is tracked ONLY within the United States. Also, since he’s not using eBay’s international program (I can’t remember what it’s called now), he can’t tell me whether, in addition to the customs clearance cost in Italy, there are any export fees from the USA. Besides, when selecting “purchase offer,” eBay warns that there may be additional charges at the time of payment. So I don’t understand whether there may be additional charges at the time of purchase and/or when leaving the United States that would be added to the customs fees here. Then, if the package were lost, would I be entitled to a refund? I should point out that the seller is a private individual and ships from the USA, so I don’t know which sales rules apply to him.
Thanks

·3 years agoAsk for a shipment that is fully trackable, even though you would still have the eBay customer guarantee: https://www.ebay.it/help/policies/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy/garanzia-cliente-ebay?id=4210&st=3&pos=1&query=Garanzia%20cliente%20eBay&intent=garanzia&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1238
On the item and shipping you need to add: VAT, customs duties and fees for the courier (for a total of about 30% of the total amount of the item and shipping).
You need to pay particular attention to VAT to avoid having to pay it twice. If it is requested from you by eBay, then it should not be paid again to the courier. If the courier forces you to pay it again (or the package will be lost), you must insist on a receipt so that you can then ask for a refund of the one paid to eBay. https://www.ebay.it/help/buying/paying-items/pagare-le-imposte-sugli-acquisti-ebay?id=4771&st=3&pos=1&query=Pagare%20le%20imposte%20sugli%20acquisti%20eBay&intent=rimborso%20iva&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1425
