Cancel order still to be paid
Summary: tangram66 initiated a discussion about canceling an unpaid order. marioelegio responded, and there were subsequent interactions between tangram66 and marioelegio. Additionally, heavenwelkin joined the thread to contribute, though without further responses.
Good evening, I would kindly need some information: I bought an item on eBay and unfortunately only from the payment form did I see that the seller doesn’t ship as I thought, but only offers local pickup. I tried to contact the seller (via contact seller) to ask if they could kindly cancel the order, but I haven’t received any replies yet (2 days have passed). If I request to cancel the order (cancel this order), I read that the seller has 3 days to respond and if they were to refuse, would I have to pay and then not be able to pick up the item? If the seller doesn’t respond after the 3 days, is it true that the order will be automatically canceled by eBay? Also, another case: after the 4 days without payment, the seller could cancel the order, but would I get a negative note in my feedback for non-payment?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me with how to proceed.

·8 months agoYou don’t need to do anything else and just wait for the seller to make a move.
- The seller can cancel the order.
- The seller can refuse to cancel the order
- The seller can cancel the order starting from the fourth day because you have not paid for the item.
- The seller may do nothing at all.
Since you haven’t paid anything, you shouldn’t expect to get your money back.
In the worst case, you could be reported as a non-paying bidder.

OP8 months agoGood morning, I’m familiar with the rules because I’ve read them. I know for sure that only the seller and eBay can cancel the order. In my case, if the seller refuses to cancel the order I’ll have to pay, but then I won’t be able to pick up the item... If instead the seller doesn’t reply after 3 days and I still haven’t paid for the item, eBay can cancel the order automatically, at least according to what’s stated here:
What happens if the buyer requests to cancel the order?
If you receive a notification from eBay telling you that the buyer has requested to cancel the order, you have 3 days to accept or reject the request. We will remove any related negative or neutral feedback, regardless of whether you approve or reject the request.
If you do not respond within 3 calendar days, we will close the buyer’s cancellation request.
If the buyer has not paid, the order will be automatically cancelled. If the buyer has paid, you will need to fulfill the order.
Given that I still haven’t paid for the simple reason that otherwise I would not be able to receive the item, I hope the seller understands the situation and cancels the order. So there would be 4 possibilities if I’m not mistaken:
1) The seller cancels the order.
2) The seller responds within 3 days refusing to cancel the order (I pay and cannot pick up the item).
3) The seller does not respond within 3 days and eBay should cancel the order automatically.
4) The seller waits until the last day to reply to me by refusing to cancel the order and, seeing that I still haven’t paid after 4 days, the item marks me as a non-paying user.
Thank you for the replies

·8 months agoIn case of no response and no payment, I think the order is canceled for non-payment.
The rules are not explicit about this particular point, but I suppose it is an absolutely logical consequence.
If that were not the case, buyers could by-pass the seller’s ability to reject the cancellation request simply by not paying.
