It is obvious that the return request is contingent on the return of the item. It is solely at the seller's discretion to grant you a partial refund, which you can accept or reject... if you accept, the request is closed; if you reject, it remains open with the possibility of canceling it. If the seller does nothing within 4 days and you do NOT ask eBay for help, you can always close it... Best regards.
