Lost item (I'll explain how); who can give me an explanation?
Summary: freedomgt said they took part in an eBay auction, bidding €17.00 for an item, but the system recorded a lower bid of €16.29, allowing another user to win the auction with that amount. Despite contacting support, they didn’t receive a clear explanation. daxsisko suggested that the €16.29 price might be the minimum needed to win the auction, excluding fees.
At 11:50:33 this morning, a postcard I was interested in expired; at 11:50:31 I bid 17.00 euros (I am absolutely certain about this). How is it possible that my bid was recorded by the system as 16.29 euros (an amount I never clicked on), and that the auction was won by another user for 16.29 euros, an amount lower than my bid?
I already spoke with eBay via chat and they claim there is no issue on their end.
Can anyone explain this to me? If there’s no certainty at this point, then everything falls through.
Thanks.

·2 weeks ago · Editedsince I don't follow auctions, mine is just a guess......it's likely that 16.29 is the minimum price at which the buyer won the item, after deducting eBay fees (which since September 1 have been paid by buyers.......), so in fact the buyer made a higher offer than yours (that is, at least 17.5 eur or more.....)
