Dispute over return and external courier
I opened a dispute for a MacBook bought as new that, when it arrived, turned on and linked to the account, turned out to have already been sold before and therefore did not have Apple’s one-year warranty, and it was not even possible to activate Apple Care.
I immediately opened a claim through Ebay to get to the truth, also because the Italian seller is a shop and not a private individual. There was no opposition to the return; the only thing that doesn’t make sense to me is that he’s asking me to make the return by providing my address and sending his courier instead of proceeding within the dispute.
It has happened to me only once to have a similar problem with a vintage lens; the buyer opened a return claim and I could choose whether to accept it or not. The moment I accepted, a label was generated at my expense.
I don’t remember, though, whether the option to return with an external courier is предусмотрed, but honestly I don’t like it.

·2 years agoThere are several possibilities to choose from, depending on how you manage to agree on it.
If the seller wants to send their own courier to pick up the package, you can do it if you want, but you have to have them send you a copy of the waybill that you will check in person.
Then, in the procedure, at a certain point you will have to enter the tracking code.
If the seller, for example, tells you that the courier will simply come by on day x and that you should just have the sealed box ready, refuse.
GLS, for example, provides for package pickups without any waybill.
If instead the seller gives you a waybill that requires you to print it and attach it to the package before pickup, you can safely trust this shipping method (of course, still staying within the procedure provided for by the dispute).
Best regards.

Why does eBay have its own courier?
If you don’t trust it or don’t like it, ship it however you prefer!
Kind regards.

when it happened to me I accepted it and then I don't remember how I generated MY own label for the pear (at my expense) for the buyer.
honestly I don't remember how
IN THIS CASE
I don't see the return as accepted, the seller is just writing to me in the chat to give him my address so he can send me the courier... honestly it feels like he's trying to move the return outside the dispute

·2 years agoIf you want to benefit from eBay's buyer protection, you have to follow the procedure exactly as предусмотрed.
If you don't follow the procedure to the letter, you'll end up in a situation where eBay washes its hands of it and the seller decides what to do as they see fit.
Stay within the dispute and have the seller send you a complete waybill where the seller's address, as shown in the dispute when it says "return to", and your original shipping address must match.
Or alternatively, tell the seller the amount you will be paying for shipping (you will arrange the return shipping yourself) and have them refund what you paid before you ship it back.
Just let the seller know that you want to follow eBay's procedure because you bought on eBay.
Kind regards.
