question about eBay delivery
hi everyone, I have a question. I have always used Amazon, which had more accurate delivery times. Now I ordered here on eBay for the first time, but I saw that the delivery times are pretty imprecise; they say from the 17th to the 2nd, but is there a way to have a more certain date? I wouldn't want it to arrive when I'm not at home, or does it work like Amazon, where you're still notified on the delivery day? so I can stay home

OP3 years agoyes but once I figured out that speedpak was handling it I did 2 searches and the reviews weren’t exactly great, this terrified me, between packages not arriving or disappearing

·3 years agoYou have to look at YOUR shipment... not someone else’s... reviews only collect the negative ones!
Why worry about something that hasn’t happened yet??

OP3 years agotrue, but since it's my first order from abroad and seeing those reviews really makes me incredibly anxious and scared

·3 years agoSo, she knew it was an overseas shipment... overseas shipments are never accurate, and even on Amazon, if she had bought from third-party sellers, she would have had the same problem...
If she knows that she is particularly anxious... a piece of advice... maybe it's better to stick to domestic purchases.

OP3 years agoyes, I knew it was a purchase in China, but it was the first purchase that far away and the first on eBay. I knew it would take a long time, but I was hoping for more reliable tracking

·3 years agoFrom China there is NO tracking that tells you (starting from the moment of shipment) the exact date and time of delivery.
And there isn’t any from the USA, from Japan, from any EU country, or even from ITALY!
It only exists with "shipping and delivery handled by Amazon" for a very simple reason: the warehouses, logistics, and delivery are handled directly by Amazon, and they always know in real time where the package is.
Where I work we deal with UPS, DHL, and FedEx, and it doesn’t seem to me like they’re exactly newcomers when it comes to couriers.
And yet deliveries from abroad can have delays and snags (customs, strikes, various unforeseen events), and the dates can slip by even a few days compared to what was expected.
Conditions clearly written in the terms of use for their services, which are implicitly accepted at the time of shipment and therefore (except for cases that go beyond the stated terms) without any kind of "explanation" or "refund".

OP3 years agothanks a lot let's say that I don't mind waiting what scares me is that it won't arrive seeing the reviews there are really many people reporting packages not arriving with that shipping method

OP3 years agobut I’ve just seen that eBay gives me a tracking code, but on a site to track the shipment it gave me another one that I can use on Poste Italiane and it actually seems to work my question is how is it possible that eBay or others did not tell me about this new tracking code? if it hadn’t been by chance I would never have seen it and I had to go to an external site to see it is this normal and above all verified is the new code definitely the one for my package or do I still have to rely on the old one?

·3 years agoWith all due respect, when you start a conversation, you should also read the replies...
You were told that the times indicated by ebay are VERY approximate, so NO, there’s nothing to trust, but if you have the courier and the shipping number, you can easily track it and get certainty directly from the courier:
Tracking Speedpak (ordertracker.com)
So keep in mind that once it reaches Italy it will pass through customs and then will presumably be handled by Poste Italiane...

OP3 years agothanks a lot, last question: if I were to miss the delivery, they leave the slip, right? and with that slip I can go pick it up in person, is that how it works?

·3 years agoIt depends on the courier, or the postal service used... so it’s not even guaranteed that if they leave you the notice, that means you can pick it up in person.
The courier leaves the attempted-delivery notice, then will make another attempt the following day; if that second one also fails, the parcel will be held and you’ll need to contact the seller to find out whether you can pick it up freely or whether you need their help.
If it’s a registered letter or a similar service, they leave a notice or you can then pick it up in person at the post office... but before worrying too much, try to figure out how it was sent...

·3 years agoHere you're not on Amazon, where thanks to its super-logistics everything is more certain in 99% of cases (100% online doesn't exist!). Here logistics are handled by the professional seller or the private individual who ships according to their own timing, so the dates you see on eBay are only estimates, don't put too much weight on them.....of course if 4 or 7 days pass after the delivery estimate, contact the seller.
On how to proceed, the other user has already indicated what to do, so follow their instructions.

OP3 years agoyes but my fear is having to keep someone at home to pick up the package they tell me delivery on February 2nd but does that mean if it arrives earlier they send me a notification in time so I can get ready or does it just arrive randomly without any warning?

·3 years agoNo one will send you a notification... unless it's provided by the specific courier used.
If the delivery times are so long, it means that the purchase was probably made abroad and very likely not even with tracked shipping... so there's not even any need to find someone at home, because they'll leave it in the mailbox.
Now, only you know what you bought, in which country you bought it, and which shipping service you purchased.

·3 years agoSorry, but there is almost always 1 notification unless the seller shipped with 1 courier and paid for the courier to call, or unless that is what is предусмотрed. Lately, whoever delivers, if they have doubts about the address, calls anyway, since with flat-rate phone plans it costs them nothing. But in your case, that is, if no one is home, if the courier doesn't find anyone they should make 1 second delivery attempt (it depends on the service), and you can check this yourself by tracking the shipment with the tracking code. If you are also not there for the second attempt, or if this is not предусмотрed, you need to contact the seller to unlock the shipment and/or go yourself to the shipper's office to pick up the package.

·3 years agoPS: If you gave the seller the mobile number to include on the shipping forms, if you have the chance you could delegate a trusted neighbor so that if the delivery person calls you can tell them to deliver it to him.

·3 years agoOn eBay we're talking about delivery ESTIMATES, which "aren't very precise" because on eBay there are also lots of private sellers who work, have families, and plenty of other daily commitments and maybe can't guarantee shipping within 24/48 hours.
If you have bought an item, check that the seller has entered a tracking code.
If they haven't, try contacting them and asking for the shipment tracking code, also asking which courier has taken charge of the item.
Once you've received this tracking info, it's a good idea to monitor the shipment directly on the carrier's website.
