I'll summarize for those who didn't read the previous post
I buy a beat-up dummy and 'needs fixing' for 0.99 euros
I pay for it after two days
the seller tells me he can't ship quickly so he wants to proceed with the refund
I reply that he can ship when he has time and not to go ahead with the refund
the next day he cancels the auction (uh?)
Reason for refund: There was a problem with the buyer's shipping address.
I contact support, who advises me to communicate with the seller, but despite my polite urging, inviting him to find a middle ground ... he doesn't जवाब to the three emails
I had thought he'd 'lost the item' or that the doll had run off to the Maldives

of them only traces and individual pieces remained, like the doll, clearly visible only at the end of the second video

that my Egyptian charioteer pushes me to reach out to pixgr, hoping for some feedback in the absence of the lovely mannequin, I’ll take the opportunity. This is a chariot driver from a war chariot in service in the 18th dynasty, more or less around the time of Pharaoh Akhenaten. It’s only the head, without the torso. The driver has a wound on the temple probably caused by a javelin strike or maybe by ricocheted stones. The chariot needed a very careful driver, since the horses could even hear the experienced driver’s spoken commands while running. If there is greater interest in a female figure, I can at another time offer a vestal virgin. Besides being beautiful, they were always dressed in transparent linen and very dear to the deity and the religious cult reserved for them. If I’m not mistaken, there was also a way to bring them back to life in the Book of the Dead. A guy who had come to see me about a purchase once said to me with a mocking air: you don’t believe all that nonsense people say, do you? My answer was: they believed it.

the issue is no small matter
when writing a positive feedback, one tries to take multiple elements into account that can gratify the seller and describe, beyond the specific case, the general dynamic
usually I comment on the quality of communication, packaging, speed of shipping (if the seller lives at the North Pole but his packages take two days to arrive, I think that’s good news for any future buyer who wants to read) as well as the consistency between the item description and what is received, followed by a thank-you, willingness to buy again in the future, etc
In the case of negative feedback, the operation is quite complex if a transaction has various points of 'failure' that must be summarized in a small number of characters.
so one learns to make lexical choices against our will; 'says' replaces 'states' because it saves space, concise formulas are used, the points of crisis are highlighted, trying to list them all and trying to be exhaustive and faithful, of course, to what happened without inventing nonexistent accusations
this is what happened

I would not buy from him in the future
if someone asks me (and reading the seller's rating or his feedback users are as if they were asking) whether that type of seller is trustworthy or not, my answer is 'this happened to me, I would avoid him and I don't feel I can recommend him to future buyers based on what happened; then everyone is free to do what they want'

I knew he had no words, not surprisingly he repeatedly didn’t जवाब to the emails asking for clarification about the auction being cancelled arbitrarily or about defining the item’s defects.
as for the fact that the mannequin was sold to others without problems with excellent feedback....he had already sold it to me just as smoothly (problems not caused by me) and, if he had shipped it, I would have left him positive feedback gladly.
the 'problem' of the missed shipment was not mine...I didn’t create it.
basically, it’s like saying: 'since I sold the same item for the same price and with the same shipping costs, I remain perplexed in the face of the negative feedback that simply describes how I handled the transaction '

·2 years agoHonestly, I don’t understand this aversion to negative feedback on the part of some sellers.
It’s a great way to inform future buyers about what happened so they can make their own judgments more informedly.
As buyers, let’s try not to be dazzled by the "nasty, evil negative feedback that makes baby Jesus cry", just like when everything goes well and we leave positive feedback.

OP2 years agoThe feedback I left is sparse; it describes exactly the transaction dynamics and how it 'failed' and, implicitly, my attempts to resolve it and the seller's silence. I think that if the seller wanted to repeat the same method, they now know that it is not very orthodox, and this will guarantee them, against their own wishes, proper handling of their conduct. Nevertheless, for buyers it represents a sort of 'warning'; if the same behavior were to happen again, they would know that the seller is 'accustomed' to such behavior, does not communicate, cancels on a pretext; then it is up to them to decide whether to leave new negative feedback or let it go.
I don't leave negative feedback on an impulse of emotion
I could have done so in the past too and I let it go
I thought about it a lot before doing it (feeling pretty uneasy about the issue)
a clear communication would have been enough, which simply did not happen, but not on my part.
It's a banal form of respect even for the money (and the work from which it comes) that is invested in transactions.

Every day on eBay you find situations where a seller enters unrealistic shipping costs, such as Posta1 at 2 euros for items weighing over 1 kg.
Or buy it now listings with incorrect amounts.
Or other times where the seller for various reasons does not want or cannot complete a transaction.
Making excuses more or less believable is typical of us Italians when we get caught red-handed...
There is a wide range of options and possibilities, entirely personal, on how to approach these situations.
I will just say that according to eBay rules you can "warn/report" a not-so-serious seller through feedback (this is still allowed on eBay unless a claim case is opened) but you have to make sure that the feedback is limited to the selling experience and does not also include any judgments about the person that could be defamatory.

2) if we leave it, how do we word it?

3) is it correct according to eBay rules to discourage, based on detailed feedback, buying from such a seller?
4) by the same token, is it equally incorrect, based on a judgment like that, to recommend buying from a seller in the event of a negotiation that ended positively, "I decide who I buy from, you don't have to be the other user who bought from a seller with your positive feedback recommending to me who to buy from, how, when, what and why"?
if this kind of logic prevailed, at this point all feedback would be useless because if merely reading the rating of a seller's performance were not pleasing to buyers, there would be no point in leaving them and everyone would make experiences in the 'dark'
a positive feedback, in a sense, is in my opinion always a sort of green light that implicitly recommends buying just like a negative feedback that acts as a red light and warns about the possible, probable but not certain transaction with problems of various kinds, then leaving each person broad freedom of choice and the consideration that if there are hiccups in a single transaction it does not mean that that seller has a definitively negative behavior with everyone

Mr. dinozXXXX writes in the auction: "Good communication solves all problems!!"
You don't seem like the type to hand out a "red" easily, and the seller, with his 1200 items sold, is not exactly new to selling.
What could really have happened?
Possible problems related to the weight/volume limits of the package?
An error in judgment on the seller's part, who in the end would have made little or nothing?
Too much laziness or real issues related to packing and shipping such a bulky package?
The seller thought he could get away with an innocent lie, and instead he really got the buyer's goat.
Canceling the sale by reporting problems with the shipping address would not have entailed any penalty for the buyer.
I'm sorry for both of you because a negative doesn't even help the buyer's reputation, who might appear in the eyes of a seller checking their profile to be overly fussy or pedantic.
By this I don't mean that the buyer was wrong to act; it's hard to judge these situations.
Probably if the seller had admitted the error in judgment and apologized to the buyer, maybe things would have gone differently, or maybe with 10 euros more you could have reached an agreement.....

it was probably a case of nickname allergy, something like 'pixgr is a nick I don’t like....'
as for the rest, I think I’ve said everything I could say, done everything I could do...
I’m not worried about the possible nitpicking that comes through in the feedback I gave him; if there is any, in the eBay transactions, it’s out of a desire for clarity and a smooth negotiation, which brings a certain peace of mind (despite the situation) and openness to dialogue and clarification...
he could have talked; he didn’t
I have to respect his decision and I think he should also respect mine to say (very briefly) what I said in 10 pages of posts (oh what joy, I imagine he skipped the whole post completely)... I also stuck to the facts only without getting sentimental and dramatic in the feedback
if the seller refused to sell to me at that price while now he has sold at the same price and the same shipping costs....facta sua sunt, all I can do is shrug 🙂

It's obvious that you're passionate about the subject, let's say my quest has become to free the mannequin from the seller, or free the seller from the mannequin. In any case, it's an interesting analysis in the eyes of someone unaware about mannequins like me.
In your cost estimate you forgot the wig, don't you want to give it a thick blond mane?

I’m not a fan of the genre, but if I wanted to create 'a work of art' (three mannequins looking at each other in a kind of modern Canova/Botticelli way) I went with engineering analysis (my field)
the idea came to me when I rescued a little mannequin from a shop that was closing down.
I found a pair of vintage mannequins for 1 00 euros each, plus shipping, with wigs for both... I’d be up to 240...
the classic problem...240 in one payment makes an impact
130-140 spread out over time has much less impact... with the need then to buy a third one
but what do I know.... the seller is what he is,....but I’m a character too ....
then if the seller sees me again I think he’ll shoot me or shoot the mannequin or shoot himself

And being his field engineering (as he himself points out), I wouldn't want there to be a story of 'debunking' behind it in which both public information and the powerful forces that direct it like a marionette have given answers about topics that obviously should not concern the general public. I was referring to the past use of simulation mannequins used by the US. Air Force for compatibility and resistance tests that were photographed and connected, as a simple explanation, to the alleged discovery of not exactly human bodies recovered near wreckage of a spaceship. But at least are these 40 euros of shipping really honest? I don't know, it seems like a lot for a disassemblable mannequin...
Anyway, this story brought back to mind the first dispute I had to open on eBay. I had bought a video card, sold as working. I receive it, test it, it doesn't work, I inspect it carefully and see that it was damaged.
I contact the seller (and at the same time I open the dispute), he mocks me, I ask him to prove to me that the card sold was working as stated in the listing, obviously he doesn't care. After a bunch of days eBay gives me my money back and then he shows up asking me to send it back to him at my expense, I tell him that if he gives me the shipping label I'll send it to him, I certainly wouldn't have paid out of pocket, disappeared again and for good. I remember he left me positive feedback where he accused me of breaking the card myself.
Probably some sellers are pretty unconcerned until you hit them in the wallet or the feedback.

the biggest problem is the lack of a base
the mannequins of the time have a hole under the sole of one foot for attaching the base.
the other buyer got it standing upright in balance...but the base is needed anyway
what is the hole under the foot like? is it torn?
I asked the seller....answer; silence
a new base costs 18 euros + 10 shipping, so another 30 euros...and that brings us to 110 euros total not counting the possible replacement of the shoulder arm attachment which of course depends on the type of arm
the attachments have changed quite a lot over the years depending on the mannequin model and manufacturer...so then I might end up having to change the attachment and arm too, maybe even one of a different color
on average to fix it up and get it standing securely I'd have to spend from 130 to 150 euros between various parts unless I just glue the whole thing together and that's it (shall we repaint it? since we're at it, a coat of flesh color would fit ...)
for that amount I can find pristine ones from the same period

OP2 years agoand I think that besides the tons, the tons of patience, I was also a gentleman not to buy it again through the second auction with the possibility of leaving, if the kind and mute seller had played the same game again, 2 negative feedbacks in quick succession
because the seller in question only communicated briskly after the negative feedback
if I had kept quiet to the bitter end, even with a second sale behind him he would have happily kept going with cancellations for inconsistent reasons

1) as Actar rightly pointed out, if now he’s even willing to ship, AFTER the feedback has been posted that simply lays out the sequence of events ....where would he ship it to if the first address isn’t good for him?
because...with the cauliflower I’d give him my home address for this...
2) what do we do about eBay’s rules? if I agreed to buy outside eBay (because I’d still be paying the shipping costs as he asked me to do for the “gift”)...even if it were framed as a gift.....what about eBay? this is “making an agreement outside the eBay platform”, which I think does eBay itself no favors at all...don’t you think? if we all did that, sellers wouldn’t pay sales commissions, we’d agree on the price and make purchases outside the eBay platform

·2 years agoEven leaving aside the downplaying that’s been done on the topic, I’m obviously not siding with the seller; probably in your situation I would have been even less patient. The problem is that if he doesn’t communicate, there’s not much you can do beyond making assumptions.
Since he now offered you the mannequin as a gift in exchange for removing the feedback (I don’t know how ethically correct that is), if you accept, of course first receive the mannequin, then remove the feedback.
Sure, this seller doesn’t have my sympathy, given his attitude, but since we’ve gotten this far, let us know how the mannequin odyssey ends!

I have a few years of purchases behind me, and I think the number of feedbacks proves it
not only here in Italy but also abroad
usually the dealings have always gone pretty well, a few snags linked to lost shipments, but all in all in most cases I found sellers who made the experience smooth
even if they were particularly laconic they still respected the purchase contract and I can't complain about their conduct
this situation of an arbitrarily canceled deal for no reason, relisting the item with a seller who discouraged buying in the second auction seemed paradoxical to me
I tried contacting the seller to:
1) reassure him about the shipping times
2) resolve the alleged problems regarding nonexistent shipping address
3) ask for the amount of the purchase offer he preferred
4) ask about the defects of the item
I tried to analyze the situation I didn't understand with the other users regarding:
1) problems with the amount of the shipping costs, which however went fine for an identical previous item and were confirmed in the two subsequent auctions
2) issues with the starting price at which I had won the item, which however, being in terrible condition, I don't think is worth much; it's a starting price decided by the seller himself, the similar item he sold previously reached a final price only a few euros higher
3) a general analysis of a situation that, in my opinion, made no sense at all
a seller who puts an item up for sale and doesn't want to sell it without explaining why has something odd about it
to defuse what seemed to me to be an incomprehensible situation I tried to keep things light on this platform also because I had politely contacted the seller several times with the first auction and now also with the second without receiving any concrete answers
in the end I preferred to follow his line; few words and facts, a.k.a. the negative feedback for the first auction, cancellation of the base bid for the second
he had time, way and means to clarify
if he didn't do it, it means that for him it's fine this way
so it has to be fine for me too, in the way he decided, aware (he) that the feedback was pending.
mocer, I invite you to look at the situation in a bare-bones way, beyond the 'softening up'

1) the seller does not tell me about the item’s defects by email, they are not listed in the listing, there are only the photos
I buy and pay for shipping, I receive the item which shows additional defects compared to those shown in the photos
who pays for the return shipping?
shipping is the seller’s responsibility
even if the seller is not required to list all the item’s defects, the photos and description count as proof
if the mannequin has defects not visible in the photos and not indicated in the text or in the emails, the return shipping is at his expense,
if even in the return rules chosen by the seller it is stated that return costs are the buyer’s responsibility, this rule only applies if the buyer changes their mind about the purchase, not for defects that become apparent after receipt and were not indicated
2) how much would the refund amount to? would it also include the original shipping costs?
it would correspond to the total originally paid, for winning bid + shipping costs

does he maybe not want the seller to know about the dolls that he then resells at inflated prices?
it’s also true that the buyer of the first mannequin resells everything at very high prices, probably waiting for some obsessed ‘collector’ (and in fact he isn’t selling and has also picked up two recent negative feedbacks for selling counterfeit branded items)ready to shell out insane amounts of money for this stuff
but a doubt crossed my mind
could the seller have gotten annoyed by the price hike after the first doll was sold and now want to ....stick the first buyer with a huge lemon? or did he notice it after the second listing and now want to play a bidding game by dangling a bait?
but if that were the case, he could have simply put the doll up for sale at the inflated price...without buy-it-now and without a starting bid of 0.99....
the seller doesn’t want to sell it to me, he must have his reasons
