Email notification of a message
Sorry for the basic question, I’ve already checked and couldn’t find the option, but I’m not getting notification emails if a user sends me a message on eBay. Can you tell me where I can find this option? Not even in the email inbox spam folder.
Thanks

OP3 years agoSo since I was almost sure of it, but just to be safe I changed the email in my eBay profile, using a Virgilio inbox, I still don’t get email notifications if a user writes to me; purchases and shipping notifications arrive WITHOUT problems.....I checked the notification preferences for the tenth time and I can’t find any settings to choose whether or not to receive alerts if a user messages you privately to ask for or request info about a product for sale
Thanks

·3 years agoSorry cicchi1971, I don’t know what to tell you.
Of my various eBay accounts, none has any problems receiving emails, which come in real time.
It seems like a rather limited issue considering that no similar posts have been opened recently.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

·3 years agoFrom experience, I can only tell you that some old mailboxes, for example tin.it (now managed by Tim), do not receive emails from mailboxes like hotmail/outlook.
I don’t know if in your case it could be something similar, and I think figuring out what it is is quite complicated; my advice is to change your email and use an Outlook or Google one.

OP3 years agoso, just to make you understand, I just got an email notification that in this thread a reply was made on the 12th....
anyway yesterday a seller wrote to me privately and I’m not getting notifications in the email inbox which is email.it....but it’s not a problem with this provider.
I’ll say it again, in my opinion they should update with the various features.

·3 years agoemail.it mailboxes, especially the free ones, are known to cause problems... I had one myself a while back, closed out of "desperation"...
Kind regards.

·3 years agoIn addition to the problems caused by free email.it mailboxes, I had read that there have been issues with the privacy of users' data, I recommend that you change email provider, choose libero.it (if you want an Italian one) or Google or Microsoft Outlook.

OP3 years agoNo problem with my email inbox, I made the issue clear; I’m not getting the notification emails when a seller sends me a message.
The messaging eBay uses dates back to when it first started, it could use a bit of updating.... with the settings and everything else.

·3 years agoOn what basis can you say that the problem is ebay's and not your email service provider's?
The thread is 7 days old and you're still not sure that ebay is to blame.......
Just do the test by temporarily changing the email address on ebay using yahoo, hotmail or gmai and see if the problem persists.
Kind regards.

·3 years agoGood morning cicchi1971
Here you can find all the information about notification preferences
https://www.ebay.it/help/account/changing-account-settings/notifiche?id=4203
more in detail, though, you need to follow these steps (which are also found in the link I attached)
Kind regards

OP3 years agoThanks, I had already seen this section but first it doesn't show everything, second even browsing with the dropdown, there is no option regarding sending emails that concerns a simple message received, but lots of other commercial marketing crap

·3 years agoFirst of all, if you don't have items for sale, nobody will be able to contact you on ebay!
They will only be able to reply to the questions you ask other sellers, and the notifications can be managed here:
https://commspreferences.ebay.it/commsprefs
Obviously if you're using a PC, it's different from the app.
Kind regards.

·3 years agoGiven that once you're signed up there's no need to make any changes to receive any replies from sellers or questions asked by buyers because these are notified by default via email as well.
If you've already checked the spam folder of your email inbox, the possibilities that come to mind are 3
A) You accidentally changed some notification preference on eBay.
B) there are problems with your email service provider, which maybe filters a bit too much (disable any spam filters)
C) A bug or a problem with your eBay account; if so, try contacting support.
Kind regards.

OP3 years agoThanks for the reply, yes, I’m not getting email notifications that I have with the seller and (not just with him, but with everyone) I can’t find the section about it....until a few months ago they were arriving without any problems, can you tell me which option deals with this?

·3 years agoYou need to go to edit the "seller" entries --> sales activities --> select all (put the blue check on all the entries)
under the buyer entry --> purchase activities --> select all (put the blue check on all the entries).
Best regards

·3 years agoIt would be helpful if you specified what you mean by notifications (through the app?) or via email (through your personal email account?)... because those are different things.
For the first, as I already mentioned, you need to check the app, not your account settings... for the second it’s probably a problem with your email account, maybe it’s moving the emails to spam and so you’re not receiving them.
Kind regards.
