Stolen item or never shipped
I was delivered a DHL package from Germany.
Inside there were supposed to be two car models.
Bought on eBay and paid by debit card on the eBay system.
I haven't opened the package yet, but weighing it, I can say 99% the models aren't inside.
How should I proceed now? Should I make a video while opening it?
Then do I open an eBay dispute or do I need to file a report or what? It's the first time this has happened to me in many years, over 20, of buying. Sometimes, rarely, the package had disappeared.
And to think I had even paid a good price for them... now go find them.
In the meantime, though, I need to try to recover the not few euros spent
Any advice?
consider that altogether it's about €160 worth of stuff (shipping included)

OP2 years agoI'm writing to update you on the situation. The seller refunded me without any problems

OP2 years agoThanks, but I collect 1\43 models, mainly Looksmart and Bbr brands...unfortunately they have different prices compared to Burago and very limited production runs

·2 years agocould you make the list of the ones you're looking for here, maybe someone....

OP2 years agoIt could be an idea... maybe open a specific topic. but I don't know if that's possible.
there used to be a feature on eBay where you could put in what you were looking for, but they removed it

·2 years agoI’m not a collector of Burago, which have very modest prices in the collector’s market. They’re the only two I own. I’m mainly a collector of German WW2 militaria, but I also have a small collection of Corgi Toys, Mercury and Matchbox from 1961-63. There’s an acquaintance of mine who owns some Looksmart models. I’ve seen them only briefly, but are they die-cast models?

OP2 years agoIn theory now he’s refunded the other model too...
Sure enough, with his shipments... 3 parcels with thefts... the seller picked the shipping day badly.
In the meantime, thanks, and then as soon as everything ends well (meaning I see my money back in my account) I’ll let you know.
Anyway, I’ve never shipped in shoe boxes, since having a lid makes them easier to tamper with.... only cardboard boxes. At this point, if it has to be a shoe box, it would have been better to wrap it in packing paper, right? Given the value of the goods he sells

·2 years agoOf course if he ships items with shoeboxes... for example at Nike... nicely in plain sight, I'd say he's asking for it, obviously the "supposed" thief then got screwed over, but since he was at it... 😂
Kind regards.

·2 years agoluciocabrio, it’s pointless to ask questions about how a satisfactory transaction should have gone. These are dramatic moments not only in the field of distance selling, but in every sector. In shoe boxes, the postcards of times gone by are kept; whoever ships model items this way is hanging on like a tightrope walker on a frayed rope. There are figures in the world it’s impossible to understand how they manage to keep going and stay 'alive' in the chaotic world of selling, as heavenwelkin said in one of his posts. Just the thought of having to act according to the platform’s correct procedure to get refunded, asking left and right for help and hoping for a thorough answer, receiving messages from the seller who first says one thing, then changes tack and sends you a communication in all caps, size 25, all in English, then you having to go back and talk to support, then not knowing anymore who exactly to send the empty box to because 20 hours have already passed in dreadful tension.... signs not to underestimate for your own well-being. Don’t buy anything from abroad. For at least 6 months. And in 6 months think carefully, and don’t buy even within national borders. It’s a moment that may pass. But now is not the time.
Enjoy your model items, show them proudly to friends and family, but.. don’t add any more ! Best regards.

OP2 years agoWell, unfortunately anyone who collects these models knows how hard it is to get them once they’re off the market.
I have 1600 of them and, unfortunately, if what you’ve been looking for for 2 years shows up on eBay Kazakhstan (I don’t even know if that exists or how to spell it correctly), you’ve gotta grab it. Because it’s... “now or never”... there are extremely small print runs and for some items it’s a real search that lasts years (imagine 50 pieces worldwide). So I can’t “give up” on this passion. And the list of models to track down is still long. There aren’t any model shops near me, so 90% of my collection comes through packages. And it’s the first time something like this has happened to me.
The problem is that the seller also shipped a bit late after payment... I always tend to avoid the two weeks before Christmas for high-value shipments.
As for the rest, at work I’m used to much worse problems 😄

·2 years agoIs there anything I can do? If there’s any little model from my collection you’re looking for, maybe you could avoid corresponding in Kazakhstan or with sellers from Mongolia😃😃😄 But as I think you’d like too, I’m taking the opportunity to show a few snapshots and get some opinions about them from other collectors. So here are two BBurago 1/18s from the 80s that my dear relative gave me: a Mercedes 300 SL gullwing, and a 1962 Ferrari GTO. A vintage hello!

OP2 years agoit basically won’t let me request a refund for the other model because it has already been (partially) refunded by the seller...
This one here is kind of pissing me off though, huh
sika700
·2 years agoI used to sell model kits too, and certain types were super light... so before crying wolf, make sure you know what's actually inside... videos or photos won't help anyway...
Kind regards.
luciocabrio
OP2 years agoYeah yeah, I know they're light, but it didn't seem like I could even feel the presence of the two boxes bouncing around inside, unless he had secured them.
Obviously I just opened the box and there are only packing materials. No boxes or models. I made the video.
What do I do now?
Beyond being pissed off and the money, there's also the fact that those two models were hard to find.

·2 years agoApri richiesta di reso per oggetto non conforme... l'oggetto non c'era proprio:

Un cordiale saluto.

OP2 years agoBut in case of a return... do I have to send the box back? or what? I looked but there isn't a procedure for item "not arrived"... there's only package not arrived.
What happens to the shipping costs?(it wasn't cheap since it was coming from Germany)
On top of that, the two models were in two different listings, but later shipped(?) together. I guess I have to open two disputes, right?
sika700
·2 years agoThe return will be at the seller's expense... but since he knows what he shipped, I think he won't make a fuss about giving you a refund; otherwise you'll return the box to him just as you received it, and if he does nothing, you'll ask eBay to step in:
https://www.ebay.it/help/buying/returns-items-not-received-refunds-buyers/chiedi-ebay-di-intervenire-acquirenti?id=4701&st=3&pos=2&query=Chiedi%20a%20eBay%20di%20intervenire%20-%20acquirenti&intent=intervento&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1382
If they are two different orders, you'll have to open two different requests.
Kind regards.
luciocabrio
OP2 years agoIn the meantime, thanks, I use the first link to open the dispute and then after a few days, if I don’t solve it, I use the second one. Did I understand that right?
Anyway, it seems strange to me that he’d have ripped me off. He has positive feedback, he’s sold other models.... dunno. For me they stole the models by cutting the tape and then putting it back on.
certainly, to steal two little models... you have to be "in the trade" to know how much they’re worth. Many people think they’re just toys.

·2 years agoGood evening luciocabrio
Sorry to hear they went after little car models thinking they’d find something more tempting and easier to resell....
In my opinion they simply found a package that was easy to tamper with and didn’t think twice about it.
The seller should put the labels as seals across the two sides of the package, bill of lading + address, so that it’s harder to open and reseal.
Of course, doing these things blind with the risk of finding a stuffed toy means that packages are passing through really unsafe areas.
I don’t think these little models had a dignified end, unfortunately.......
I’m really sorry about the item.
As for the refund, I don’t think you’ll have any problem getting it.
I’m sorry for the seller, but if the package was opened without obvious signs of tampering, let’s say they had it coming.
Best regards.
luciocabrio
OP2 years agowhich one should I select here?
Return the item

·2 years agoExactly!

OP2 years agoproblem. one request went through, the other won’t let me do it because it says the seller doesn’t accept returns... so what do I do now? 😞
sika700
·2 years agoYou can open it anyway, it cannot refuse to accept requests for non-compliant items... non-acceptance refers only to a change of mind and this is not the case.
Kind regards.

Good evening,
I had a similar problem with three other parcels. In two cases, the entire contents of the parcel were stolen, in the third case one of three models was stolen and then the parcel was taped up again.
Apparently, the perpetrators opened the dark adhesive tape on the underside of the parcel with a knife, stole the models and then sealed the parcels with transparent adhesive tape, which I did not use. All the boxes were new and I only used dark-coloured adhesive tape.
I have already reported the theft to DHL and will file a criminal complaint with the police. I will of course refund the purchase price of the two models and the shipping costs.
Please return the original parcel to me in a larger package as evidence. I will also reimburse you for the return shipping costs.
I am very sorry about the incident. Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience.
Best regards

OP2 years agoThere is brown packing tape, but they may have removed it and put it back; since they used a shoe box, it's hard to tell
luciocabrio
OP2 years agoThe package did not show any obvious signs of tampering on the outside.
