Item sold as new but missing components
Good morning. I bought an external hard drive that was described as new. Just to be safe, I also privately asked the seller for confirmation, and he confirmed “new, never opened”.
Now it has arrived, and the USB cable that was supposed to be included is missing.
I wrote to the seller privately and requested a return for an item that arrived with missing parts.
The sales description said that returns are not accepted.
If the seller does not respond or makes a fuss, what would be the usual procedure to get a full refund from PayPal?
Ah, of course I don’t intend to pay anything for the return.

·3 years agoSure, but negative feedback doesn’t make you return the item and it negatively affects whoever has to accept the resolution.
And if the seller agrees and pays you for the return, there’s no reason to write any negative feedback since the case was resolved positively (in fact, if you’re really itching to write it, be careful what you write because just one comma in the wrong place and eBay will delete it).

OP3 years agoI received a ridiculous partial refund offer of €10, which I رفضed. At this point I no longer trust the seller, I want to return everything and get the full amount back.

·3 years agoSo follow the return procedure as they already told you. There’s no rush for the feedback, especially since it won’t solve the problem. Once things have cooled down, you’ll decide whether to leave it.

·3 years agoWhy ridiculous? How much do you think the cable could be worth?
The urge to leave feedback and to feel offended by this proposal sounds a lot like spite to me. You should have asked for a fair accommodation, not revenge.
If you don't want to accept the proposed refund, Sika has already attached the help pages for proceeding with the return and the full refund.

OP3 years agoWith all due respect, if I buy an item that’s supposed to be new and therefore come with everything included in the package... and this one doesn’t... I lose trust in the seller and, as a result, I want my money back. Also because I don’t have the time or the desire to go around looking for a compatible cable when it should be included.

·3 years agoHello,
the correct procedure to follow is this... first open a return request:
https://www.ebay.it/help/buying/returns-items-not-received-refunds-buyers/restituisci-un-oggetto-cambio-di-un-rimborso?id=4041&st=3&pos=1&query=Restituisci%20un%20oggetto%20in%20cambio%20di%20un%20rimborso&intent=reso&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1134
if the seller does not provide you with a return label within 3 days, on the fourth day ask eBay to step in:
https://www.ebay.it/help/buying/returns-items-not-received-refunds-buyers/chiedi-ebay-di-intervenire-acquirenti?id=4701&st=3&pos=2&query=Chiedi%20a%20eBay%20di%20intervenire%20-%20acquirenti&intent=intervento&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1382
Kind regards.

OP3 years agoHello, the seller sent me the return label and this morning I dropped it off at the post office. But how do I indicate that I’ve shipped the return? I can’t find any button for it...
sika700
·3 years agoIf the label was sent to you by the seller, the tracking should have been added automatically; you should just need to find a way to confirm the shipment...
Best regards.

OP3 years agoDoes the refund happen immediately like with Amazon, or do you have to wait until the item arrives at its destination? Thanks
sika700
·3 years agoNo, the refund takes place when the recipient confirms delivery.
Kind regards.

·3 years agoFirst of all, you need to open a claim through eBay within 30 days of the day the delivery was made. It’s not like before when Paypal handled claims; since around mid-2018, the eBay Guarantee was introduced. Paypal is a second fallback if you can’t make it within eBay’s short time limits; on Paypal you have 180 days from payment, but you no longer have reimbursement of return shipping costs. eBay does provide this, namely the so-called return shipping label for an item not as described. If the seller then comes up with excuses not to provide it, contact support via chat or, better yet, have them call you.
