Offer prices not displayed correctly

One day I was planning to buy from an auction I was keeping an eye on. Starting price €0.01 and only bid €0.01. I bid €1 and eBay instantly told me that my bid had been outbid. The first bid had turned into a value of €1, the same as mine. I bid €1.50 and finally mine was higher.
The auction is about to end, the price was €2 so I have to bid more. I bid €2.50 but it’s not enough. I bid 3. I bid 5.
I bid €6 but the auction ended in the meantime. What happened?
A visual bug!
One person had bid €5.50 2 hours earlier and just a minute ago another one had bid €6, and then there was me in that minute trying to outbid without being able to see or know what price to beat. I found all this out only after the auction ended. It’s happened to me with many auctions, even ones where I don’t place bids. I’m not able to see the real bids, or I even see the same people making multiple bids of the same amount within a few seconds.

·1 year agoA bidder can enter a maximum price of 50 euros for an auction and still appear as the highest bidder for 1 euro.
You can keep bidding 2, 3, 5 or 10 euros even at the last second, but you will never know how much that bidder has set as their maximum bid until you outbid them.
Auctions starting at 1 euro attract the attention of many more bidders than fixed-price sales.
But they also catch the attention of a lot of dreamers...... (I'm not referring to you, but speaking in general)
If you want to win auctions, offer a price in line with the market value and you'll certainly increase your chances of winning.
For example, if an item is worth 100, try offering 70, and if you're lucky and there aren't many other interested bidders, you'll get it for 40 or maybe even less.

OP1 year agoThanks for the reply. I had ruled that out. But can you confirm that automatic bids do not increase the number of bids and remain with the date of the previous bid?

OP1 year agoAre you really confirming for me that these are the automatic bids?
because I ruled that out. I had clearly seen that I wasn’t able to see the price to beat and that the number of bids remained unchanged. While doing a search, I was sure it was a visual bug. But if you’re telling me that bidders’ automatic bids update without increasing the number of bids and keep the date of the previous bid, then I believe you, that things were done badly. I’ve never used the automatic bidding system; I don’t see any settings for it in the app. Just because I’ve been a user for years doesn’t mean anything. You’ll know more than me, so at least be kind, otherwise what are you even doing here.
