Has this happened to you too?
I leave negative feedback for a seller who didn’t even bother to reply to my simple question/request for help about an item I paid 867 euros for (not exactly pocket change for me), and what does eBay do? It deletes my feedback — without even notifying me.. they keep sending me messages and all kinds of ads but they forgot to do that for this - claiming, moreover, that for privacy reasons they can’t give me any information about why it was removed... does that seem like fair and transparent behavior for a buying-and-selling platform to you? According to eBay, was I supposed to leave positive feedback or keep quiet in the face of a situation like this? And just so you know: the seller - who at this point can’t even say they’re unaware of my request - who describes himself as ' professional' to this day has not gotten back to me, no response, no help, and according to eBay I can’t leave negative feedback? Is all this normal? If this is how things go, you know what value we can give to the feedback on this platform... you decide for yourselves...

OP3 years agoSo... I bought a network streamer from Advance Paris from a shop in Berlin, and in the box there was a Wi-Fi antenna that didn’t fit the connector on the device, which is why I asked the seller for an explanation/support. By their own definition they call themselves 'professional' and for them a request like this shouldn’t be a big problem, at least in giving advice on which antenna to buy, especially since a streamer without an antenna is like a car without wheels, not exactly a trivial thing I’d say... I wait and hope... no reply. A negative feedback seemed to me at this point like a sensible thing and it was even published, only to then be removed without any plausible explanation, otherwise it would have been told to me. I repeat, spending almost 900 euros and not even getting two lines of reply to a simple question, and leaving negative feedback, seems to me the bare minimum, and eBay’s behavior is unacceptable: as I also told them, they could at least have stepped in to get me a response from the seller, and instead nothing at all! A platform like this should also support small buyers like me, not just serve the interests of big sellers...

OP3 years agoPs. It's true that problems aren't solved with feedback, but if you DON'T GET ANY REPLY to your emails/support requests (all recorded and visible here on the platform, I didn't dream them up), how am I supposed to solve them?

Mentore3 years agoSo... was the antenna included with the streamer or not?
If it was included, it would have been enough to open a return request for a non-compliant item... in that way the seller would definitely have replied to you, offering a solution or a return at their expense.
Feedback, as already written, does not solve any problem, if anything it makes it worse!
Sometimes you have to know how to use a platform, not expect the platform itself to solve the problem without doing anything...
If instead the antenna was not present or included and so you had to buy one yourself, what fault does the seller have?
It is a very common SMA connector for wi-fi antennas...
Kind regards.

Mentore3 years agoThe feedback must be removed, upon report by the person who received it, if it violates eBay's policies or rules.
If it harms the seller’s reputation, it must be removed; otherwise eBay becomes complicit in the crime of aggravated defamation. This is also the case even if the truth of what happened can be proven, because, starting from the specific case, subjective judgments are expressed about the seller.
For example, one can say that the seller did not reply to my request for help (description of the facts), whereas one cannot say that the seller does not respond to customers’ requests (subjective judgment based on one’s own experience).

OP3 years agoThank you for the explanations, they don't perfectly fit the situation - my fault, I certainly can't adequately describe what happened - but they may be useful to me in the future.
The fact remains - and here allow me to say that everyone is free to believe whatever they want, and that anyone who may read these lines will make up their own mind - that as far as I'm concerned, a seller who does not respond to a simple support request cannot be called 'professional'.
Thank you and have a good day everyone!

Mentore3 years agoOne can only agree with this statement... but if the seller does not act "professionally", ebay provides well-tested procedures to make them "become" professional, in front of which they are forced to respond or lose money and the item.
Only for this reason did I allow myself to write that one should "know how to use a platform, not expect it to solve the problem without doing anything".
A cordial greeting.

Mentore3 years agoNice, the Elac UBR62 broke, they were sold new and at a fair price, what was the problem?
What did you write in the comment?

Mentore3 years agoIf you don't explain what happened, we can't tell you anything... except to tell you that, if eBay removed the feedback, evidently it violated the site's rules or it was defamatory or a product review... remembering that feedback is not how problems are solved.
Kind regards.
