Hello, this morning I received this email from eBay:
Given that I’ve actually made a few more sales in the last month, helped by having also added shipping within the EU, I wanted to understand what effects this might have. I’ve actually completed about thirty sales since the beginning of the year, with an average of 52 euros per sale, I don’t know if this could cause problems. In the app it says the reason is a periodic performance review, can anyone tell me a bit more? Thanks a lot
Hi | Following some recent changes to your selling activity and for security reasons, your account is under review. | You don’t need to do anything, but your incoming payments will remain temporarily blocked until the review is complete. We apologize for the inconvenience; however, these reviews help keep our platform safe. | Accounts are reviewed for several reasons. For example, if you are a recent seller and don’t yet have a solid sales history; if there is a noticeable change in your selling activity; or if customer complaints or delivery delays increase. |
|
Here’s what you need to know |
|
• | The account review will be completed within 5 days and we will contact you if we need any more information. |
• | If the review is completed successfully, your payments will be automatically unblocked and you will receive the funds according to your schedule. |
• | By clicking the link below, you can check the status of blocked funds at any time and get more information about blocked payments. |
• | During the account review, you can continue to sell and buy |

Mentore2 years agoNothing in particular, they noticed the increase and are doing some checks.
Maybe they'll ask you for the purchase invoices for what you sell and they'll reinstate your account.
Only at the end of January 2025 will they report your activity to the tax agency.

OP1 year agoThank you very much for the reply.
I don't know how many I’ll be able to find, 80-90% of the items are lightly used clothes, and in addition I sold a coffee machine that had never been used, a Christmas gift from a few years ago, but I hope that isn’t a problem for eBay.
Can I ask what this report involves, do taxes have to be paid? I had read somewhere that the profit, if any, had to be well over 2,000 euros a year; I’m quite far from those figures.
Thanks in advance

Mentore1 year agoFor reporting to the Revenue Agency, 2000 euros or 30 transactions in the year.
Switching to VAT number is necessary if you sell something you bought for that purpose: selling the coffee machine is absolutely legal, but if you buy and sell used clothes to make a profit, you are an unauthorized seller.

OP1 year agoThank you so much for the replies, really very kind.
Probably I was not aware of some things, after all I sold things that could be useful to someone; I’d like to point out that personally I have NEVER bought something new or used just to resell it, it was simply my own stuff that had been used very little because maybe the size no longer fit, but which, because of its condition and also the brand, could still be useful to someone (I’m not reselling the Zara pants that no longer fit me, just so you get the idea), I hope that in this case we’re not talking about an unauthorized seller, in short. Anyway, apparently and from what I read, it’s a check they carry out periodically on performance, and even from what you tell me everything should be fine.
Thanks again
