Account permanently suspended and payments blocked
Good morning, I can't log in with my blocked account, so I made a new one to get information from you. On 15/03/2023 my account was permanently closed, and payments for over €500 were blocked. I don't care about the account, I regularly sell on other sites, but I care about the money. So on 12/04/2023 I had eBay call me back and they told me not to worry about the money because it wasn't lost, but the procedure for payments for permanently blocked accounts required a minimum of 60 days and a maximum of 72 days. As of today, 67 days have passed, so I had eBay call me back, I explained the situation, and I was told that the procedures have changed, and today for blocked accounts payments take a minimum of 60 days, up to a maximum of 170 days. Honestly, I feel like I'm being taken for a ride, I recorded the phone calls and I wanted to ask you whether it would be worth going to the consumer association? How much roughly would their intervention cost considering that eBay is not a small merchant? Is it worth it for €500? thanks to anyone who replies.

Mentore3 years agoI don't know how much it might cost to involve a consumer association. Ebay has also предусмотрed the possibility of arbitration, try to see if it might be of interest to you. There are two separate procedures for professional or private sellers ..... https://www.ebay.it/help/policies/member-behavior-policies/accordo-per-gli-utenti?id=4259#16.%20Risoluzione%20delle%20controversie,%20legge%20applicabile%20e%20foro%20competente
I don't know the reason for the suspension, so also carefully consider the legal implications of what you were selling and how you were selling it. Maybe a complaint could cause you more damage than what you'd be able to recover.

OP3 years agoHello and thanks for the reply, if I had committed a serious crime I think I would have been warned by ebay ( and then by the police ) so ebay isn't reporting me and is keeping the money??? but why not tell me right away? first they tell me it takes 60 to 72 days to get the money, now instead it's 60 to 170. Anyway, if it can help someone, in the account closure email it says: ""We inform you that your eBay account has been permanently suspended due to activity that we consider risky for the eBay community"" does this, in plain words, mean you can't sell anymore and we won't give you back the money??? P.S. the money refers to a sale that was paid for and not disputed by a buyer.

Mentore3 years agoI was referring to whether you sold something illegal (e.g. non-original products) or whether you were running a commercial activity with a private account.
eBay permanently suspends an account only for repeated and serious violations.

OP3 years agoBut I don’t care about the account, I’ll never sell or buy on eBay again, there are other sites. What I care about is the 500€. This morning I spoke again with support and they’ll send me an email stating that, due to internal procedures, the release of suspended payments will happen within a time frame between 60 and 172 days. I asked for the email because I tried to look in eBay’s terms to see if I could find anything mentioning 172 days, but I found nothing. Maybe they know that it’s not economically worth going to a consumer association or something else, and so they do whatever they want. Blocking a payment for 6 months for a sale that wasn’t disputed by the buyer is absurd and shameful.

OP3 years agoJUST RECEIVED THE EMAIL
Dear Marcello,
thank you for contacting eBay's Policy and Safety department. My name is Mirela and I am happy to assist you. As agreed, I am sending you the email so you can comply regarding the funds from your sales; they will be transferred automatically after 170 days if the account verification is completed and if there are no compliance issues, from the moment the hold was applied.
Thank you for your cooperation, I wish you a good day.
Kind regards,
Mirela H.

OP3 years agoAs for the account, they made deposits until a few days before the block, so it's all good, compliance issues??? considering that the buyer has not filed any complaint and has paid regularly, what are the problems??? fake goods? stolen goods?? drugs??? uranium??? is it possible that in two months they still haven't checked??? but above all why don't they tell me the reason so that I can give my version?????

Mentore3 years agoYou should have received several emails explaining the reasons for the increasing restrictions up to the final account suspension.
If your account is suspended or restricted, we will send an email explaining the reason for the action to your registered email address and to the Messages section of My eBay.
