Buyer opens a dispute but doesn’t respond
After receiving the damaged item, a buyer opened a dispute, leaving me negative feedback even before contacting me and understanding what happened.
The book was new and was shipped and packed as I always do, so the damage is the carrier’s responsibility.
In any case, the user has been giving me a hard time for days, even though I have been polite and willing to resolve it amicably. Even after I proposed a partial refund, without return, he made accusations of fraud and stopped responding. I formally sent the refund offer but I doubt he’ll accept it now.
If the dispute isn’t closed by the deadline, what happens?
Is there a chance it will be resolved in my favor given the buyer’s behavior? And regardless of the outcome, can I request removal of the feedback in a case like this?

Mentore2 years agoIf you offered them a partial refund and they don't respond by either accepting or rejecting it within the technical timeframe, you could be in the right.
Kind regards.

OP2 years agotoday he refused the partial refund. Ebay gives me return or full refund as the remaining options.
Basically, even though I'm the one who took the loss, do I have to shoulder the entire loss?

Mentore2 years agoIf you accepted the return and provided the prepaid label for him to send it back, the dispute closes by itself if he doesn’t ship within the set timeframe.
If you didn’t reply and provide the label within the time you had, he has about twenty days to get eBay to force the refund (if he waits too long, the dispute closes).
The feedback is formally correct and doesn’t violate any rules or regulations, so it’s hard to get it removed. You can try customer support, if you have other communications with a different tone.

OP2 years agoOn another occasion (a user who complained about the price after buying the item, and had received the item late because of Poste Italiane) eBay had agreed to remove the negative feedback that had been left for me.
That’s why I was asking whether, based on users’ behavior in certain cases, you can make the request.
