Buyer declares that the purchased item does not work
Hello, a few days ago I sold a used coffee machine that was still fully working. The buyer received it intact and used it for a few days, even though he said it was making noise, but he didn’t really specify what kind of noise. Now, after a few days, he’s telling me it doesn’t work anymore and he’d like to open a dispute, saying he’s already having it repaired (by the way, it seems strange to me that he found someone available on January 1). Since he bought it used, can he do that? How am I supposed to know that he didn’t damage it himself, maybe by not following the correct procedure for filling the boiler, which seems likely to me, since he was asking me what the indicator lights meant, and that makes me think he didn’t even read the instructions? yes, he can do that and you can't know if it was damaged by him... it would be your word against his and in general eBay almost always sides with the buyer.
So think carefully about what is best for you to do to minimize the possible financial damage.
