Purchase from the United Kingdom
Hello everyone!
I would like to buy a used book from a professional seller based in Rossendale, United Kingdom. The total cost (book + shipping) is around 27 GBP (about 30€). In the item description it says: The listed price includes VAT. The final cost may vary depending on the specified delivery address.
Has anyone with direct experience buying goods from the United Kingdom, can you explain how it works with customs duties or clearance fees? Does it vary from courier to courier? Can you give me an approximate amount for a price of around 30€? just so I can get an idea before making a purchase that I then can’t collect.
Thanks in advance!

Mentore3 years agoIn my opinion the final cost includes VAT only for a user residing in the UK. The seller can't know what nationality the person viewing their listing is; they ask for 30 euros and local taxes are the buyer's problem.
The final cost may vary based on the specified delivery address I think refers to the VAT of the destination country (22% for Italy), so 6.7 euros. For customs clearance, if the delivery is made by Poste Italiane, you're looking at between 2 and 5 euros.
