eBay purchase from a non-EU seller
Good evening everyone,
I made a purchase of an item for a total of €260 (€255 + €5 shipping) from a private seller based in China.
After payment (I should point out that in the listing the only items shown related to the amounts were exactly the €255 and the €5 shipping, no other items), the seller asks me to provide the IOSS code.
Looking online, I read that it should be provided by eBay.
I’m asking you whether I have reason to be worried, expecting that I’ll be charged additional costs, or whether I have no reason to be.
The seller confirms that they have correctly completed the procedure needed to be able to ship the item.

if you haven't paid VAT on eBay, you'll have to pay it to the courier together with customs duties and carrier fees... so expect an extra 30/35% upon delivery.
This is info you'll never find written in a listing; it's something to know for anyone importing from non-EU countries.
The IOSS number, if the VAT hasn't been paid in advance, is useless.
