Good morning, I had put up for sale a 70s Pioneer HIFI including Bose speakers, but I had specified local pickup given the size of the packages (6 pieces). One user, who wasn’t paying attention, first made the purchase and then told me: oh sorry, I hadn’t seen that there was pickup, so since I’m unable to, I’m requesting a refund! Me: no problem, but now I’m outside Italy and it’s hard for me to mess around with the phone. (I always use the PC, like now, for everything). Anyway, unfortunately since I’m also new to the platform I didn’t understand how to approve the gentleman’s request, so in the various email exchanges I approved his refund request because I wasn’t shipping. I should point out that I never downloaded the label (which would have been the same repeated six times), and when I got back despite eBay’s pressure, I still didn’t download it because I wasn’t shipping. I fiddled around a bit to understand how the platform worked, and I even gave my opinion that it wasn’t intuitive. Long story short, the buyer was refunded, and they... charged me €11.20 for not shipping. I tried to appeal, to give my explanation, asking them to reread the emails between me and the gentleman, but they replied that I had made a mistake, so they were going ahead with the charge. So, I was wrong not to ship an item for which pickup was specified, while the buyer was fully refunded. The few items I had put up for sale, I took them down and I honestly don’t think I’ll ever use this platform again, where the seller is punished regardless.

OP5 months agoThanks a lot...I was new to the platform, I didn't know the procedures and as it happened the guy made the purchase while I was abroad. But him too...was it a tortellino or was it done on purpose? After this ..rip-off...I really don't even think about using eBay anymore..

You brought the rip-off on yourself... By putting an item up for sale without having the faintest idea of how eBay works.

Mentore5 months agoIt’s not a fine, but eBay selling fees. In fact, on 200 euros they withheld 5% plus 0.43% plus 35 cents. That is, 10+0.83+0.35 for a total of 11.18
I don’t know what you did, but the transaction was not cancelled; in fact, if you look in your sales history, the item still appears sold on April 2.
You must have done the procedure wrong; you should have cancelled the transaction for address problems (you weren’t shipping to that address) and they would have refunded the fees.
