Cancel order as seller
Good morning everyone, I sold a bike for local pickup last week, and after a few days the buyer tells me he bought it for a friend, gives me the number and tells me to contact him. No problem because the item was for local pickup only, so all I needed was for him to have the pickup code with him.
In the end he asks me to ship it, a request I decline because it wasn’t in the listing.
Today I try to cancel for wrong address, but it tells me there aren’t enough available funds, yet rereading the FAQ on eBay I read verbatim "When you issue a refund to the buyer, the amount is deducted from your total Available, Processing, or On hold funds. If you do not have sufficient funds to cover the refund amount, the sum is deducted from your linked bank account or your registered payment method. "
I contacted chat but it only made things more confusing, telling me in the end that I have to add the card or ask the buyer to cancel for order not received.
Why are they telling me two different things? and why the last time I made a refund did I not have to enter a credit card? I'm sure there were no available funds because I have daily incoming payments so I don't leave funds on eBay.

as a new seller, your funds are blocked for at least 15 days, according to eBay rules.
It follows that, after a refund, you must advance the amount to be refunded until your funds are unblocked... and unless you have other accounts... it is not possible that things went differently for previous sales.
So, if you add a card, you can safely issue a refund on your own.

OP3 years agoThanks so much for the reply, so once the funds are unlocked will I be able to put them back on the card? because it wasn’t clear in the chat.
I’m attaching the photo of the order canceled on January 9th last year and I’m certain I had available funds. Sorry if I’m insisting on this point but it really puzzled me and I’d like to understand
No other account and always only sold, never bought.

Mentore3 years agoWhat I explained to you is the theory, that is, what eBay says in its rules... then from theory to practice, it's a mystery... if you say you refunded using the funds available in your account, it may be that the refund happened after the release... or maybe you didn't notice, but eBay deducted the amount from your bank account or card with IBAN.
Anyway, yes, when your funds become available, eBay will pay them into your account, the important thing is that everything is up to date with verification completed.
