cancel order already paid with PayPal...
Summary: The discussion concerns the cancellation of an order that has already been paid for with PayPal. ftocci asks for information on how to proceed, while marioelegio participates without providing any additional details. No further replies or resolutions are provided in the thread.
as per the subject, I requested the cancellation of the order, which I had already paid for. I should point out that I sent the request almost immediately after paying because I realized that the seller wasn’t replying to me about the customs duties expected from England to Italy... so I looked into it and, considering how much I would have to pay in addition to what I already paid, the purchase is no longer worth it... I tried again to explain the situation to the seller but without success... at this point I opened a dispute on PayPal, which I only found out later prevents the order from being cancelled... what do you recommend I do to get a refund of what I paid? eventuallly, to speed things up, it might be best to close the dispute... but then could I request the cancellation of the order again, which at the moment has been closed because there is a dispute on PayPal?

You can’t have canceled an order, on ebay buyers can only request cancellation, but it’s only the seller who decides whether to accommodate you or not.
Why did you open the PayPal dispute? For item not received? But if you wanted to cancel the order, how can you ask for a refund for not having received it?
The ongoing procedure now prevents the order from being canceled.
The seller can decide whether to ship the goods and thus (if it arrives within the expected time) the dispute closes in his favor (even if you were to refuse to pay customs and reject the package).
Or he can help you and wait for the deadline to expire and refund you for item not received. But even if you get the refund, with your rash move, you’ve extended the time by a couple of weeks.
ps. I’d avoid closing the procedure, unfortunately, by using PayPal, you’ve burned the ebay guarantee too and you’d be at the seller’s mercy,
