Item received damaged, return initiated but the seller refused it
Hello, recently I bought 1 GPU on eBay; in the listing it stated that they worked correctly even though they had previously been used for “mining”.
I assembled the whole computer and only in the last week was I finally able to start using it, unfortunately discovering that this one does not work, artifacts on the monitor and crashes, typical of a damaged GPU (I won’t go into technicalities).
I started the return process and the seller, without a response, immediately closed it, even though in the message I had attached photographic evidence. When I contacted the seller, he simply stated that the card worked and that was it, and that anyway who knows what I had done to it.
I read on eBay’s rules that the seller can close the return request if in the auction they declare that they do not provide this service; that’s how it is, and I have no other options selectable here on eBay.
Sorry, what can I do? Is it possible that I lost my money?
I simply mounted the whole PC, brand-new case, components bought on eBay, and assembled everything together. Is it possible that I am not protected in any way?
The purchase was made about a month ago, which the seller also pointed out, however if it had really been working as stated it would not have started behaving like this, becoming unstable as soon as I started asking it to do calculations for a game!

Mentore3 years agoOn eBay you could request a return within 30 days of receiving the item, if it was found to be in conditions different from what was promised in the listing.

If your request had been based on non-conformity, the seller would not have been able to close the return request (not even if they stated that they do not accept returns).
Maybe you opened a return request because you changed your mind and the seller rejected it; under these conditions, it also becomes difficult to open return claims on PayPal or do a chargeback from the credit card.
Or else you took too long with the timing; in that case you have longer time limits with the payment methods.

Mentore3 years agoSince the reason was valid and you just took too long ....
If you paid with PayPal, you have 180 days from the purchase to open a dispute on PayPal's website.
If you paid directly by credit card, you can get help from your bank for a chargeback within one year of the purchase.
