Is eBay support the same for everyone?
Hi everyone, I’ve been a user for almost 10 years. I’ve been selling for about a year now, more or less. Unfortunately, as a private seller I notice a bit of favoritism. Let me explain better: as a buyer I’ve never had problems with sellers or other platform users, even when I had an issue and wrote to support we managed to find a solution. Maybe because times were different, without the use of AI in such a fast-moving field. Later, becoming a private seller, I notice an unpleasant situation. Luckily, the negative cases with a buyer aren’t very frequent; there are also scammers who ask you to go outside eBay or who enter the wrong shipping address or who receive the goods and refuse to communicate the pickup code, but luckily there aren’t many. Still, even in those cases I ask myself a question. Are the reports I make about a bad-faith buyer thrown in the trash, or in the end does someone read them, whether AI or a human, and take some action regarding the report???
I’ve noticed, and so have my friends who use eBay to buy and sell, that when you’re a buyer and you report a seller, the response is almost always prompt and often strict, while for buyer reports there is complete silence.
A few days ago, on the same day, I had to deal with two different buyers: one received the item but refused to communicate the pickup code. When I asked him for the code, he sent me threats and insults - I reported to eBay the fact that he had also created a second account to try to rip me off again. Days have passed but this person keeps writing to me despite me archiving his messages; I asked to have him blocked so he can’t write to me - nothing, silence.
My question is simple. Does it make sense to make reports, or is it just a teaspoon of sugar to calm the user?
