Auction closed by the seller less than 3 hours before it ended. Is that fair?
Hi, I’d like to know whether this is right. The seller put the item up for auction, there were 2 active bids and I was waiting until near the end to place my bids, but less than 3 hours before the deadline, the auction was closed and the item SOLD. But how is that possible?
If someone can explain it to me. Thanks

OP2 years agoI went and read it for a sec, I don’t know if it had a reserve price. But it doesn’t seem very fair to me. There were bids in progress, eBay lets me know when the auction is about to end, and he sells the item and closes the auction as I said, less than 3 hours before it was due to end.
I’d understand if there were no bids or if the few there were were low, but at least wait until the auction ends, otherwise why did he even put it up? He could’ve just put a “buy it now” and that would’ve been better, right?
These are the kind of things that are annoying, he must have made some private arrangement and closed the listing. Oh well.
Anyway, thanks for the reply. Tomorrow though I’ll contact eBay to understand even better and I’ll see what they tell me. Not that it changes anything, but at least next time I’ll handle it differently. I’m definitely not surprised by many things anymore ....

Mentore2 years agoIt’s possible... if he did it, it’s because eBay allows it.
Why instead of being surprised by what happened, not read eBay’s rules?
