Auction won, seller doesn't respond about pickup...
Hi everyone, I have a problem with a seller, I won the auction for a musical instrument for about 300 euros, and besides free shipping they also offered local pickup; since we live in the same city, I obviously prefer the latter, especially given how fragile the item is.
4 days have passed, I’ve sent 5-6 emails to arrange pickup and I haven’t gotten any reply... I wouldn’t want to give up on the item because the price is great, but I definitely won’t pay in advance. Better one less deal than one more scam.
I should add that as soon as the auction was listed I sent an email asking for information about the item, but even then I got no response; I still took part in the auction and then won it. At first there was also the option to make an offer, which I did and it was automatically rejected because it was too low.
The seller has been registered since 2016, has almost 40 feedback at 0%, all marked "More than a year ago", he hasn’t left even one himself, he has a weird nickname with the typical initials of a first name plus abbreviations and other characters, it looks like the nicknames suggested by the system, free shipping is usually something I find in scams that sometimes pop up on similar items...
Maybe it was an abandoned profile and was taken over?
At first I thought it was an old guy, the photos were badly taken, little was written and without mistakes, but if he manages to list an auction he should definitely be able to answer a simple email...
I thought he was ignoring me because of the low amount, but if he doesn’t cancel, does he pay the fees or am I wrong?
What can I do besides bombarding him with emails?
If I ask eBay support for help, will they cancel it for me? How could they help me?
Can they tell from the seller’s log whether it’s suspicious or not?
thanks everyone for any help

OP3 years agook thanks, I'll think about it, very undecided... I wouldn't want to have problems and he could have replied anyway, I wouldn't have had any problem paying in advance but if you don't reply to me, the trust disappears

OP3 years agoThanks for the reply, but let me get this straight: I bring the code or QR and until that point the money is on hold?
What do you mean it doesn’t involve any risks?

Mentore3 years agoIt works like a normal eBay payment. The money stays on hold only if it’s a new seller; otherwise eBay withholds its fees and pays the rest into the seller’s account.
If you don’t receive the item or it isn’t as described, you can open a request for help with eBay and get a refund (eBay is authorized to take the money back from the seller’s bank account) https://www.ebay.it/help/policies/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy/garanzia-cliente-ebay?id=4210&st=3&pos=1&query=Garanzia%20cliente%20eBay&intent=garanzia%20cliente%20ebay&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1238
For local pickup, not all sellers accept cash, for the reason I already explained to you. Those who accept cash indicate it in the listing. .......In addition to PayPal or credit card, you can sometimes pay for items available for local pickup by online bank transfer, check, or postal money order, in advance or at the time of pickup. In some cases sellers also accept cash for purchases with local pickup.

Mentore3 years agoYou should have paid it in advance, now the seller can cancel without any penalty.
Advance payment protects the seller from time-wasters; maybe he works and has to carve out time to set up an appointment with someone who doesn't show up (if the buyer has paid, they will definitely show up), and payment on delivery then leads to possible haggling with pretexts for discount requests etc... which many sellers don't tolerate well.
Advance payment does not entail risks for the buyer, delivery is certified by scanning the QR code in the buyer's hand.
