Notice of missing materials 18 days after delivery
Good evening, in January I sold some items that were delivered by courier on January 28. This evening, after 18 I received a message from the buyer telling me that some small attachments are missing, which I’m sure I included and which they may have thrown away along with the packing material. How should I handle this? It’s clear that my word is worth as much as theirs.

Kind regards.

OP7 months agoThank you for the response. Without referring to the specific case, which could be due to issues related to the courier (against whom I could not open a dispute for the buyer’s delay in informing me of the problem) or to the buyer (who may have inadvertently thrown away some component together with the packaging), I wonder how sellers can also be protected from bad-faith behavior of the same kind: would it be enough to photograph the contents before closing the package? Certainly not from a strictly legal standpoint, but it would give the seller certainty that if part of the contents is missing, it must have been removed either during shipping (this is happening too) or after delivery... it certainly remains a problem that should also be addressed by the platform because the private seller/buyer relationship is too unbalanced. There are ways to do it, in my opinion, then it is a matter of commercial policy that is exclusively the responsibility of the owners.

Mentore7 months agoIt's not just a matter of commercial policies; you forget that almost always the buyer is also a private individual. He is the truly vulnerable party that needs to be protected.
Any policy favoring the seller would put the buyer in the hands of unscrupulous sellers. The buyer's loss of trust would mean the end of the platform.
The only sure way to protect yourself would be to use couriers that certify the contents. You bring the package open and seal it together with them with the list of contents.
However, these are very expensive services that only make sense for sending valuables.
