A buyer made me an offer (not a purchase offer) for an item nearing its end.

I closed the auction by selecting the only available option "sell the item to the highest offer".

All of this happened through the app (and the problem may lie there too).

I’ve done it several times but never with less than 12 hours left before the natural end.

The problem is this: instead of selling the item as it did the other times, it closed the auction and charged a fee.

After contacting support, they refuse to open a technical ticket to check the bug and rely on the logs provided by eBay (obviously, if there is a bug, they’re incorrect).

Has anyone else had a similar problem? I realize that the trio "auction ending soon" + "early closure" + "app" is extremely rare, if not unique, as far as occurrences go. So it’s possible I’m the first unlucky one to run into it.

I also compared the procedure for canceling the offer and ending an auction early by assigning it to the highest bidder, and on paper (I’ve never canceled an offer), they’re very different.

Anyway, I distinctly remember selecting the option (the only one present, I repeat) to close the auction by assigning it to the highest bidder.
