Bug with InPost labels purchased on eBay: address cut off and shipping not on Packlink
Hi everyone,
I’m writing to report a problem and a couple of anomalies I ran into when buying, for the first time, an InPost shipping label directly through the eBay platform (the new native method, without going through the usual eBay Shipping/Packlink portal).
I hope this can be useful to other sellers to avoid parcels sitting in storage. Here’s what happened:
1. The address on the PDF label gets cut off
The label generation system completely omitted the second line of the address provided by the buyer (the "Address 2" or "Notes" field).
My customer had entered crucial information to find the building in a suburban area (the wording "c/o factory...") and their phone number. On the generated PDF there was no trace of this data, only the name, street and ZIP code.
How I solved it: To make sure the courier wouldn’t get lost, I printed the label and wrote the missing information by hand in the blank space, being very careful not to cover or damage the barcodes.
2. The shipment doesn’t appear on Packlink
Since it was a label purchased with eBay’s new internal system, this shipment does not appear in any way on my Packlink account, but is visible exclusively in the eBay Seller Console.
3. Nonexistent support
I tried reporting the cut-off address bug to support via chat. A disaster: the chat gets stuck on the waiting timer and, when an agent replies, they use totally out-of-context canned phrases (they were talking to me about "shoes" when I was selling a supplement).
I wanted to ask you:
Has anyone else noticed this bug with incomplete addresses on eBay’s new native InPost labels?
Can you confirm that it’s normal for these shipments no longer to sync with Packlink?
Please be very careful when printing InPost labels these days, always check that the data matches what the buyer provided in the order!
Thanks to anyone who wants to compare notes.
Luca.
