Unlike a physical store, anyone selling online is not required to issue a tax document, and if they are not authorized, nor a receipt.
We therefore infer that if the seller asks you for your tax code, they issue the document for each sale as a matter of policy.
In any case, a tax code is not sensitive data, so I don't understand what the problem is...
