Good morning, I am thinking of buying a camera lens from a seller in Japan.
good morning, I’m thinking of buying a camera lens from a seller in Japan. Declared price around €2400. My question is: at the moment I buy it, and the product leaves Japan and arrives in Italy, are additional fees applied, such as VAT or various customs duties? Or does the agreed price stay the same? thanks

Mentore3 years agoVAT is always applied at 22%.
Import duties from Japan are very low, I think there may even be none for photographic equipment (see page 99 of the EU-Japan agreement https://trade.ec.europa.eu/doclib/docs/2018/august/tradoc_157229.pdf#page=99) .
Lastly, there are the courier charges (at least another 20 euros for a similar value).
