Sales decline, eBay tells customers 1 item every 10 days
For several months now, I’ve had an incredible drop in sales. Customers contact me saying they can’t buy, eBay blocks them and tells me they can purchase “1 item every 10 days,” but these are people who have never bought even 1 item from me before, let alone a second one; moreover, I did not set this restriction. I’ve contacted eBay several times, but I can’t get it resolved; then the same customers, if they make a purchase offer, are able to buy even multiple items.
Who knows, for every 10 who contact me, how many give up and don’t contact me, and I lose sales. Has this happened to anyone?

Mentore4 years agoIt will definitely happen to anyone who voluntarily "trades" with a private account...
Try following Mario's advice... and you'll see things will change...

This is the regulation, which talks about 2000.00 € and not 10000.00 (quite a difference), and you actually have 1058 items for sale, which are not 4 bits of junk...

OP1 year agoI have at least another 10,000 knick-knacks to list, what's your problem? The 10-day message problem has never come up again. That was the question 2 years ago, not to receive conjectures in response .

The problem with the junk isn’t mine but yours, and explaining it to Hades will be a lot more complicated than trying to convince whoever replies in the community. End of story.

OP1 year agoI don't have to explain anything, you keep making innuendos, that I have a shop, and I sell as a private individual, and you justify it with the fact that I have more than a thousand listings, eBay currently allows me to list another 72,000 euros worth of items in total for sale in addition to those 1000 already, the original question was, ” how come eBay tells customers 1 item every 10 days to people who have never bought anything “ your answer was to open a VAT number to sell more, when in these 2 years that has never happened again …

eBay yes, but Italian law no, and eBay will have to report the irregularities to them

These are laws that have been in force for decades; now only the checks and the reporting obligation by the platforms to the tax authorities are increasing.

OP1 year agoOkay, but I didn’t ask how I can sell 30,000 euros a month as a private seller, you replied that I’m a trader, be sneaky and sell as a private seller. That’s not how it is, I had asked 2 years ago why I was suddenly being contacted (after years on eBay) by more customers telling me I can’t buy, eBay was telling customers “you can buy 1 item every 10 days” then the same person would buy anyway, so you never really understood the question anyway, this bad habit of judging and looking for the worst or being jealous of others is totally Italian, you’re right but you keep talking and replying about something that wasn’t related to the question nor the cause of the missed sales, because there was a drop in sales but then the next day they happened from the people who had contacted me. If eBay had wanted to restrict me, it would have hidden me, removed my visibility, or notified me of problems. It was just a technical error.

Mentore1 year agoLook, it’s not about jealousy. A platform earns according to its turnover and has no interest in limiting it. The tax agency has other duties.
Quoting what you wrote, this bad habit of judging and seeing the dark side or being jealous of others is all Italian and I’d only add .... just like wanting to evade taxes.
This phenomenon is theft from the pockets of those who pay taxes regularly, since they are forced to pay them even for those who try to be clever.
That’s precisely why they have tightened controls on online sales, and a European directive has obliged platforms to report to the tax agency private individuals who have suspicious turnover.

Mentore4 years agoYou’re being restricted because your sales activity for volume and frequency of the sales made goes beyond occasional, unorganized selling and therefore is not compatible with private seller status.
You should update the account by informing eBay of the business registration and VAT number.
This data is necessary because Article 13 of Decree Law No. 34/2019 requires digital trading platforms to share certain information about sellers operating on those platforms with the Italian tax authorities. Under these new regulatory measures, eBay is required to verify that sellers who must be considered professional under VAT regulations also register as professional sellers on eBay.

OP1 year agoWell, but in real life I’m not a company or a professional seller and my sales volume has never exceeded about 10,000 euros a year. I certainly can’t afford a VAT number to sell on eBay, 4 used knick-knacks.

OP1 year agoOkay, after you checked that I have 1100 listings, I roughly checked yours instead and one single one can also cost 900 euros, that is, it’s worth 10 or 100 of mine in amount. Can I draw conclusions? Why don’t you open a professional seller account. Once you get to 2000 euros, close the account and set yourself to away?

OP1 year agoThey were not limiting me at all 2 years ago because I was not a professional seller with a VAT number, because 2 months ago I sold like never before, over 5000 euros in 90 days, you don’t sell anything but when it comes to firing off judgments you’re number one and well done. You never answered my question, the customers contacted me saying, I can’t buy, eBay tells me 1 item every 10 days. People who have never bought on eBay. With an offer to buy, then they would buy 1 hour later or the next day.
