Change post-sale delivery method
The buyer has already paid on e- bay, but instead of picking it up in person, they’re asking for shipping, which they would pay for. How can I change the delivery method? Do I need to cancel the order? e bay charges me fees for canceling,
what percentage are they? Thanks for helping me sort this out

Mentore2 years agoI’d say it’s better to cancel the sale and, if needed, relist it with shipping and ask the buyer to make the purchase again. If you cancel it correctly, the fees will be credited back. The problem is that you’re a new seller and the payment will be held for 15 days, so you’ll have to front the refund with a credit card and then wait for the hold to be lifted.
When local pickup is arranged, the seller scans the QR code that eBay sends to the buyer and this certifies delivery.
If you ship without having the delivery code, you’re taking a big risk. If there’s a dispute, you’ll be forced to refund the buyer.
If the buyer sends you the code first, they take on all the risk. You could then not ship and they wouldn’t be able to dispute it, since delivery would show as completed.

OP2 years agoMany thanks. Very clear advice. Fortunately, I haven't yet received the money, which is still pending, since I haven't yet given my bank details to eBay. So I won't reimburse the buyer. eBay will do it. Right?

Mentore2 years agoIf you cancel the order, you’ll have to issue the refund yourself... and if the funds on eBay aren’t available, you’ll have to pay out of pocket, as Mario already said, by adding a credit card from which eBay can withdraw the money.
When your funds become available, eBay will transfer them to the IBAN you provide and, if you don’t do that, they will remain on your account.
Best regards.
