Good morning everyone, this is the first time I’ve written on the forum, but I’m doing it to let you know what’s been happening to me and also as a sort of vent about behavior I consider unfair. I’m a professional seller on eBay and have been for almost 4 years (used books), and I can say I’m generally satisfied with the platform.On April 24 a buyer opens a dispute for item not received (a book). I take action, do some checks, and the item shows as delivered on April 20 (to the address provided to me by eBay); he claims he never received it. I go to the Post Office and ask for the POD (proof of delivery); in fact I had sent it by registered book rate, and at the post office they show me the recipient’s signature, recognized as the actual addressee, and the clearly legible signature is the same person’s surname.I contact the buyer and let him know the developments. He replies saying he will check at the post office and with the neighbors and asks to confirm the shipping address. Taking his good faith into account, I point out that if he disputes his signature he should report the matter to the post office responsible for the delivery and maybe go there in person and speak with a manager. In my city it’s possible to do this by going directly to the central office from which the mail carriers set out.I don’t receive any more emails and today, after the deadline expired, he asks eBay to step in. My funds are blocked and eBay informs me of this.I contact support and the kind lady, after listening to me, confirms that she will close the dispute in my favor, protecting me from any feedback. Shortly afterward, in fact, the claim is closed in my favor with no refund from me to the buyer. I can say I’m satisfied, but I ask myself, and I ask you, if the buyer was trying to pull one over on me then it ended badly for him, but if he was acting in good faith, I wonder why try to turn it against me and not look more deeply into what happened. It’s still a forged signature and an item of yours that has been stolen; if I were in his shoes I would have acted as quickly as possible, even speaking with the mail carrier to understand to whom the registered letter was actually delivered, and I confess I would not have dragged the seller into it, blaming him for something that wasn’t his fault.I look forward to your opinions and I’ll keep you updated on any further developments, maybe this case can be helpful to others tooMassimo
