Food and drinks
Hi ,
I sell food and beverages. I pay for shipping with eBay’s shipping manager (Packlink) for drinks with added insurance and for some reason it is not delivered; then the parcel is declared lost after an investigation. Packlink won’t refund me because their policy is not to refund losses or damage to food and beverages even if they are compliant and properly packaged.
But at this point, what protection do we have if, even by paying for shipping insurance, the damage caused by the carrier is not refunded or compensated?
Paradoxically, a thieving carrier could open a parcel with food, take the contents, and throw away the packaging. The result of the investigation would be a lost parcel and there would be no refund or compensation because Packling does not compensate for food and beverages. O.o
So? Should we shut down businesses of this kind?
Or? Is there a different solution?

The solution would be to regularize your position on ebay and, having a VAT number, subscribe directly with the courier to a subscription at more advantageous prices and direct management of the insurance.

OP3 years agoYes, we’re formalizing things for business because the online impact wasn’t known.... but anyway we’re off topic.
The main and paradoxical problem is that a delivery courier can break a package or, thinking badly, can open it and take the contents because they know that if food and drinks are declared lost or damaged they aren’t reimbursed, so it doesn’t create damage to the company itself, but it does to the sellers of food and drinks (and others)

Mentore3 years agoI’d say the main problem is with the brokers... not the delivery driver... I’ve never had any problems getting issues recognized when shipping directly with the courier without going through any broker...

Mentore3 years agoThe solution would have been to read the terms before buying an insurance policy.
If your items fell under these lists, they were not insurable on Packlink.
