Discount code on purchase offer
An item has a seller discount code of 5%.
On the same item, I received a purchase offer from the seller for 5% off, probably because I was watching it. Once I accepted the offer, at checkout the first discount code (which is still visible on the item page, by the way) no longer works. I feel cheated; shouldn’t the item discount code also work on seller offers? Otherwise the net payment would be the same

OP2 years agoIf the seller sends an offer, it’s to convince you to buy at a more favorable price, but if he sends me an identical purchase offer and I fall into the trap, I am obliged and bound to pay the same price that I would normally find in the display window.
It’s by no means obvious that I have to accept one of the two for sure; many coupons can be combined, and we’re talking about a measly 10% total discount, not an unrepeatable clearance sale >70%
