How do I calculate customs costs from the United Kingdom?
Hi guys, I need to buy a car part from the United Kingdom, total cost including shipping 290 euros, but I haven't found anything that would let me understand how much I'd end up spending on customs duties, has anyone had any experience?
Thanks a lot

Is there possibly a reliable site where I can calculate these costs?

Anyway, if you calculate 30% of the total including shipping, you're not too far off for standard products.
In fact the duty is 2.5% on goods contained in shipments between private individuals provided that these are non-commercial imports and that they have the following characteristics:
• they are occasional in nature;
• the goods are intended for personal or family use;
• they are shipped from the sender to the recipient without any form of payment;
• the value of the goods does not exceed €700;
• They are not goods falling under the category "Tobacco and manufactured tobacco products".
from: https://www.spedireadesso.com/blog/spedizioni-da-e-verso-il-regno-unito-una-guida-a-dazi-iva-e-franchigie.html (note: the site is not updated; in fact, it is missing the July 2021 change that removed the €22 exemption)
In the normal categories the duty is otherwise 3-4% while in special ones like tobacco, alcohol, etc... it goes up to 16.5%

Mentore3 years agoHello,
if the spare part can be imported, you have to add Italian VAT, which is 22%, and on top of that I’d also factor in another 20/25% in duties...
It’s impossible to calculate them precisely in advance.
Kind regards.
