OP2 years agoI still maintain that Ebay perfectly knows (in case of purchase) my address, the item's price, the origin and that therefore the duties (estimated) are already countable before reaching the payment cart. Thanks everyone. Paolo

Mentore2 years agoIt doesn’t work quite like that...
It’s the seller who has to choose whether or not to join the International Shipping Program, since it has a cost... ebay can’t do it without their permission!
So the seller can’t predict who they’ll sell the item to, that’s obvious, just as they’re not obliged to ship it to our country!
So ebay’s “perfect” knowledge of import costs is something impossible to apply.

Mentore2 years agoStrange that an experienced user like you doesn’t know customs exist.
When you buy from a non-EU country, then during import into Italy, you pay VAT, duties and customs fees.
For amounts under 150 euros, VAT is collected by eBay on behalf of the state and there are no duties.
Obviously it is added at the time of payment since sellers listing in those countries cannot predict that the item will be bought by an EU user.
