How do I request a return if the seller has prevented requests from being received?
I bought a Nikon lens, it arrived but the autofocus doesn’t work. I’m trying to contact the seller but I can’t send a return request because they have disabled the function. I was only able to send a message, but I can’t open an official refund request, and therefore use purchase protection.

You left out that you’ve also already left negative feedback... hoping to solve the problem that way?
All you had to do was look up the correct procedure in the help that ebay provides for everyone:
