How to request an accurate evaluation when the seller, on their own initiative, cancels a sale without first contacting the buyer
Summary: odisseafreud expresses frustration over two cases in which sellers canceled purchases on an online platform, falsely claiming that it was requested by the buyer. He is disappointed by the platform's lack of action and feels ignored despite receiving a refund. He asks for advice on how to proceed to get an accurate assessment of the situation and improve how such cases are handled.
Within the space of a month, two sellers have deliberately canceled a sale by claiming something that NEVER HAPPENED, and VERIFIED BY e-bay, that I had supposedly asked to cancel the order. Lots of words, or not even from e-bay, and I was silenced with the fact that I was refunded. I ask myself, where has the minimum morality and ethics of e-bay gone. I am a user registered since 2007 and month after month I am seeing that the platform I “trusted” is, in substance, no longer doing that. I remain very perplexed. Today a seller, for whom I can provide all the message exchanges, is once again canceling the purchase, refunding me, using a reason that needs to be proven: item missing and/or damaged. I can’t send photographic documentation to e-bay and nothing changes! What would you suggest I do? I thank those who will want to help me. Thanks

MentoreJul 22, 2026 at 9:24 AMWhen the seller cancels with the reason "item missing-damaged", they receive a warning (selling defect). More warnings lead to restrictions on the seller's account.
For this reason, some people use the reason "at the buyer's request".
