Does the coupon apply to one item?

hello,

I received a coupon from ebay. I would like to use it to purchase a product. Many times, directly on eBay in the order form it indicates to enter the coupon I’m entitled to, but now this option isn’t there and I’d have to enter it during checkout. However, I wouldn’t want the coupon to be counted as used if it isn’t valid for that item. Are there other ways for me to know in advance whether the product falls into the category: in this case I would need to buy a new mobile phone. thanks
