Fees for canceling an order already paid for

Good morning, I happened to buy some books, assuming they were paper books, since it wasn’t specified in the description. Once I had paid (about €50), the seller told me that the collection was in digital format.
So I requested cancellation, but I was told that he cannot issue a full refund, since he has already incurred €6 in costs related to eBay fees. Could you tell me whether that sounds like a plausible fee?

The fee will be credited back to him after the cancellation. He will only be out 35 cents.
