Fees on unsold items
Good morning, now for a month I’ve had a good 350 euros on hold for a sale that had a problem.
Italian Post lost the package and, both I and the buyer, are waiting for a resolution.
today I receive the summary from eBay asking me for 20 euros for the transaction (which never happened) which are added to the other 20 euros I had to spend for shipping.
is this normal?

If you force eBay to step in, there is no refund of the fees. You should have resolved the issue (with any refund) within the three working days that eBay gave you.
Clearly specified on this page…. https://www.ebay.it/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/accrediti-delle-tariffe?id=4128

OP1 year agoSure, but these conditions go in a direction that is definitely contrary to the provisions of eBay’s Packlink partner for shipments.
I, after a month and a half, am still waiting for the reimbursement of the insured shipment while the buyer has (rightly) requested a refund as soon as he realized that it was not just a delay.
what would have happened if I had authorized the refund within the three days after the buyer’s request and the parcel had arrived the next day? I did everything necessary so that the shipping company had the opportunity and technical time to indicate whether it was a delay or a loss.
I understand the conditions but a bit of healthy flexibility, just so as not to make the seller pay insult on top of injury, would have been common sense.

Mentore1 year agoShipping is always your responsibility, until the item arrives in the buyer’s hands.
Throughout the whole situation, you’re the one who bears the consequences, and if you don’t respect the procedure timelines, the result is obvious.
Common sense teaches a few things... if a shipment is delayed... especially by more than a month... it’s taken for granted that the package is lost, so there’s no point hesitating and you need to act to minimize the damage.
Kind regards.
