conspiracy theories, hate speech and eBay platform safety
Summary: htp17 opened a topic about conspiracy theories, hate incitement, and eBay platform safety, without providing further details or receiving any replies.
I had a bad experience with Ebay: a foreign user bought an item and shipping to their country cost more than double what I had listed in the ad (500 euros instead of 250), which obviously I could not have paid myself for obvious reasons.
I had also specified in the sales listing description that they should contact me before payment so I could tell the buyer the correct shipping cost because it varies depending on the destination country and by quite a lot (I can do this if the buyer tells me by message, or only after the purchase because the order details appear).
However, the buyer paid for the item the moment the sale was made and as a result I warned them that for their destination country the cost was 250 euros higher.
The buyer initially said that they would not have been able to pay more and that they did not want the item anymore, but then also wrote that they were undecided; they also started confusing me by explicitly asking for additional items and suggesting other circumstances to arrange the purchase. I explained to the buyer that I preferred to cancel the order and relist it with the correct price and therefore leave time to think about what to do, that is, whether to buy it or not. The buyer never replied to me again (whereas before they had been very talkative in messages) and left me negative feedback writing things that were not only false but also damaging to my person.
I should point out that I have all positive feedback and that I always try to satisfy all users.
I am a person who believes in kindness and honesty, and I put a lot of effort into the ebay site to try to sell my items while communicating with users.
I therefore contacted ebay to ask them to remove the feedback, but they do not remove it. They say that the user did not choose to cancel the order and therefore the feedback is not removed for that reason. But the user states this explicitly in the Ebay messages.
I am seriously doubting the safety of this platform because I believe they show favoritism to people who somehow are part of the Ebay group, like group operators, and who are interested in the items. I cannot believe that Ebay lets a user write serious comments that damage my person and are false (there are no facts that prove what the user claims) and does not remove the feedback. But above all, perverse and inciting hatred.
I have read their guidelines and the words used to formulate the feedback express hatred and negativity toward me. I am asking you for advice and asking whether you trust this platform.
