With eBay's International Shipping Program, do I also pay VAT when it arrives in Italy?
I’d like to understand if, when buying an item from England with eBay’s International Shipping Program, the listing shows me the "shipping cost" for example 16 gbp plus "Estimated amount" 19 gbp Confirmed at checkout" do I also have to pay VAT when the package arrives in Italy, in addition to these charges? Or do I just pay 16+19 and that’s fine, with no other surprises?
thanks everyone

OP3 years agoMeanwhile, thanks for the reply, and roughly how much would these carrier charges amount to?
using as an example a cost of: 50 gbp (product) +16 gbb (shipping) +19 gbp (estimated ebay amount)
what would I have to pay?

Mentore3 years agoIt depends on the carrier that handles customs clearance and delivery.
These are Poste Italiane's rates: https://www.poste.it/prodotti/ricevere-spedizioni-da-estero.html#:~:text=*%20Con%20riferimento%20ai%20Diritti%20Postali,conformit%C3%A0%20della%20dichiarazione%20o%20della
They call them postal fees; you need to refer to the table for commercial shipments. The amount of 85 GBP should fall within the 5 euro bracket.
If instead it is delivered by another courier, you need to refer to their rates.

Mentore3 years agoHello,
no, you pay VAT to eBay... upon delivery you'll "probably" pay the carrier's charges.
Kind regards.
